a few drops of the cheapest white craft paint mixed in will prevent this, although the application is different. Instead of sprinkling dry bi-carb over PVA, you actually create a snowy terrain paste and apply it with a tool.I've used bicarb and it works but does go slightly yellow over time.
Anyway, this is the stuff i was talking about yesterday. If i was doing a big snow scene, which i plan to do in the next year, i would apply the paste into the low recesses, and more sparingly onto the high spots. Then on the very highest points sprinkle this on and pat it down gently with my chubby fingers to create a sense of old snow, fresh snow.
Of course totally not necessary for a single mini on a base, but I'm really looking forward to it on a large Dio.
