Raedwald's painted stuff

Well... I don't want to give the game away too much just yet, but the Myeri are firmly ensconced whilst the Fae Walkers have walked off the website. They will be back, but not quite as they were. ;)
Ahh intriguing. Will be glad to see in what form they return.
To be honest I've already made the purchases, as I've always planned to have a block of Fimir in my Fimir-worshipping Night Goblin project. The Myeri are truly a dream, as I adore the Paul Bonner Fimir art (If I win the lottery tonight the originals he has left will be mine!), plus I found some lovely 28mm garthim to use in a Woods warband.
So question will just be what to paint first... assuming no other projects grab me in the intervening time.

Excellent looking bunch of elves. Your painting style makes them look almost like colours were desaturated, which works perfeectly in favour of more realistic style. Great job!

Hi folks, here are three Thornmen, also from the Heartbreaker Earthdawn range.

I always hoped to get hold of a few more of these to make a small dryad unit, but I've only seen them available in a large resin bundle deal from Impact! Miniatures in the US, which doesn't work for me. For now I hope to use them in one of The Woods scenarios where the warband has to erect three warding totems as their objective.

I just used slap chop, although I overcompensated on the white top highlight before applying the colours this time and found they ended up far too intense orange. It really looked like the Woods Elves had gone at them with too much Cuprinol! Thankfully it was quick and easy to tone them down with a darker brown and some light drybrushing.

Mrs Raedwald happened to walk over to the painting bureau just as I finished them.
"Treemen", she declared.
"Yes", I concurred, indulgently.
"They're disgusting!" she exclaimed.
I guess they're not the most handsome fellows. :)

Cheers,
Raedwald

Disgusting indeed!
Not seen these minis before, like the rooty aesthetic! These sort of textured sculpts work will with the slapchop style painting method.

Their look is quite authentic to the original RPG artwork. Very true about the textured sculpts. They take washes and drybrushing so well it's pleasantly easygoing. I remember Fimm McCool making a similar comment when he painted his Treemen... hopefully get mine off the pile in the next few years. :)

Thank you for sharing your figures. I like the dark tones. It was cool as well to see the progression you've made from your old minis to your current ones. Thank you

They are interesting. Certainly a degree of a flayed aesthetic to them. I like the glowing eye detail you've done.
