Oldhammer Facebook???

I gather there's a Facebook group but I'm damned if I can find it. Total noob at FB so no idea how to search for groups etc. Found a bunch of links through Google searches but every time I click on them it just opens my FB page! Bizarre. Anyone got a link?

Unknown reason? I think it's pretty clear. This way our normal friends don't have to find out exactly how nerdy we are!

That and betting grin the American south, I've got family members on Facebook who would probably kidnap me and have an exorcism performed if they found out about my hobbies. Shirley I'm not the only one like this

Its a closed group for some unknown reason, so you have to be asked to be let in and that.

Beat to it by Bruno !

That would be the issue then. ;) Oh well...

What, people use their real names on Facebook !?!

Let me just check. So I can definitely post comments about the hobby on the facebook closed group without any of my family or friends seeing them? I've resisted until now for worry of the backlash upon my geekdom!

Definitely. Nothing you post in the Oldhammer group appears on your public profile...the only people who can see if are other group members. Its the only reason I joined and started posting...I'd rather my non-gaming friends and family didnt see the full extent of my nerdiness!

For shame you lot! We should all wear our nerdiness on our sleeves and face each day with paint splattered hands and clothes with a measuring tape in one pocket and a rattling bag of dice in the other... ;)

Like our sick pale skins, beards and round bellies, cryptic talks and nerdy quotes, Weird T-shirts and answering "Oh I'm going to UK to play miniatures with guys I know from the net" when asked about WE plans,... was not enough :ugeek:
Least of things is to stay discrete not to embarass those who know and love us... ;)

i'm in south east london, and i think i'd have some explaining to do

To be honest, I can't recommend it much. Mostly just spam adverts, blog spam from blogs you either read and don't care about, and trolls these days.

That's pretty much how Facebook in general works isn't it? - a platform for status updates or linking to content somewhere else.

I personally like the immediacy, like the heads up on new blogposts, like the instant gauge of mood / stuff on the table now. It's not the platform for in depth discussion, research or reference (the forums to that better), but it's quicker, easy to access and has a greater turnover of content (for better or worse).

Both formats work for me, and you don't lose anything by taking a look :)

Trolls, cool. Are they the Perry C20 ones or the later Aly Morrison ones?

Indeed. A distinct Lack of Runequest boxed set Trolls, or Fiend Factory Trolls or ADD Trolls, or rare as a bloody steak ME Trolls. There's very little knowledge, depth, skill or style in the Trolling.

Yes, probably.

But the Oldhammer bit of it wasn't so tediously predictable until about 6 months ago, imho the quality and focus has declined greatly of late. Might just be my age but I actually prefer a more sedate and cerebral kind of discussion and than the platform engenders. Add to the fact that any vaguely meaningful conversation you might have had 3 months ago is literally impossible to find. It's not unlike a conversation with an amnesiac with adhd.

I've seen 99% of the "look at this it's cool" stuff a bazillion times before, so it becomes an instant 'ignore'. I'm well versed enough with 80s GW periodicals to know what is inside them, and follow enough old school miniatures painters blogs to know what they are up to. Add to that a heck of a lot of later edition stuff I have no interest in gets posted there, well FB? I wouldn't recommend it.
