More Warhammer: The Old World Made to Order miniatures

wait... Hrothyogg? and.. wow Skrag the Slaughterer! A doomed one himself..

hope the prices aren't gonna be stupid...
Can't be worse than stoopid ebay prices for these ogres, surely?

Anyhow, always thought this c23 ogre executioner fella had the look of the roman jailer (Terry Gilliam) in the Life of Brian.

I'd be surprised if these ogres come without a premium over the current metal range. It feels weird to even write that in 2026. Bless the success of The Old World. The headsman, the knight, & the captain are particularly fine sculpts.

number of reasons why they pick certain ranges over some more preferable older ones. I'm also still a bit unclear on the marauder situation.

I understand that rights issues are complicated for some early models but Jes Goodwin must have signed his rights away years ago. I've been through that. Sign here or take a package. They've picked some of his but not other equally good ones.

I can never find these made to order figures on the Games Workshop Warhammer website. Anyone know where you look for them?

the models they sculpted for citadel are work for hire. sculptures don't have the rights to sign away. One difference is the early Bret/Empire and the odd other one which were given as part of Ansell's 'retirement' package, and thus most of them (though not all) are currently being produced by Foundary.

I'm not 100% sure on some of the really early Marauder stuff as its a bit odd for Aly and Trish to have the greens... though that doesn't mean they have any rights.

@willlucv these aren't up there yet but when they are, just search under shop all for the old world. they don't have a good shop system so you can't just search 'made to order' or anything like that.

I believe some stuff entitled sculptors to commission. Obviously not something you would get today.

I've listened to quite a few interviews with various sculptors on Jordan Sorcery's podcast, Bob Naismith, John Thornthwaite (the plastics specialist), Trish Carden, Paul Hicks, Gary Morley, The Perrys etc. I was always under the impression that they get a flat fee or salary for their work, rather than being paid a percentage of sales or anything. I'd be interested to hear from someone who could elucidate me on this like @Jamiie or other professional producers. I suppose its swings and roundabouts, you might not want to be paid on sales if the miniatures you produced were quite niche or not big sellers.

The main exception seemed to be John Thornthwaite who effectively ran his own business alongside Citadel, producing lots of things including the slotta bases in addition to all the plastic kits. He effectively sold his business to Games Workshop after Bryan Ansell left (I get the impression he didn't like the management direction during the post Ansell era).

I'd probably like some of the Ogres, but the baby dragons look cute as buttons.
