Minimum Zoat Ally Contingent

The last Zoat is the Level 15 Wizard Contingent Commander. I wanted him to look slighty different than the rest, because he is a wizard and the commander. So went purplish on him, using 70.096 Hull Red, 70.811 Blue Violet and 70.804 Beige Red. Into the Beige Red and Hull Brown I mixed a bit of the Blue Violet.

The rest of the painting process was like with the other models, using the same green etc. Still, the wizard does stand out from the crowd.

The "magical stuff" (the cristals on the stick and the spjere) I painted with 70.950 Black, 70.960 Violet, 70.811 Blue Violet and 70.951 White.

After protecting the models with a spray coat of gloss varnish, the dreadful moment came: I slathered on a thick coat of oil paint. Normally, it turns out well in the end...

They are looking great. The banner is cool and I like the way you've done the crystal sphere and staff.

It was interesting seeing your basing technique, whilst I've been a big fan of magnets glued into the bases for mine for a while I've never tried it round the other way, looks good.

I switched to that way couple years back and really like it that way. The magnets in the bases often caugt on the tape measure, or bases tried to merge on the table when too close, etc. No such issues with this approach. And the metal bases are really flat, which I like very much.

Given the amount of games I am currently being able to play (not much...) it will probably take some time... They are mainly meant as suport for my Wood Elves. Which need to be revisited. And expanded...

Even for base cover and varnishing, life and stuff got in the way and cost me way more time than planned.


I used a new product for the first time, the Krautcover Scenics Meadows of Purity base cover. I like the mixture.

Once the glue was dry, I matt varnished the miniatures.
