Epic Space Marines

I can confirm back then you used to get some metal Marines thrown in with blisters and with mail order parts. I have a few, enough to make 4 bases. They are pretty much the same size as the new scale.

ah... so you can remove figures when they are taken out... well.. at 6mm tall, that isn't gonna happen cause they would get lost easily.. unless I magnet them.. mm.. lets see what I got and what I can do..

yeah, but when I look at the stat cards I got which say 'when you unit 5 marines is cut down to 3, then roll a moral check, it gets messy keeping track of how many are taken out of a unit if you don't remove minis like with normal 25/28mm ^_^;

^_^
this would be Space Marine 2nd in 1991 though I think some of the issue is my misunderstanding of the rules as I don't play..

for example.. A Space Wolf blood claws Pack says a pack is 5 Blood Claws.. fair enough.. 5 mins.. but then says the unit of broken once it has lost 3 troop stands.. Just checking the rule book.. troop stand is a base of 5 minis... which has slightly confused me as.. a pack of 1 troop stand, yet the unit brakes when you lose 3 troop stands? ... yeah, i'm very confused ^_^;

when they say a pack is 5 Blood Claws.. they mean 5 troop stands? so.. a unit would be... 25 minis?

yep, they are the cards.. well, apart from the ones i got right here are space wolf ones for clear reasons. slight change between wording and.. well, the images don't fully help.. like that says 4 terminator stands.. right.. so a stand is 5 terminators on a base... so.. 4 images should be more.. 20.. okay.. I think i'm getting this ^_^;

ugh.. searching and so far.. I found the complete renegade box set in the loft.. with it's sticker cause it was £1 at a boot sale in the... either 90s or early 2000s.. bit pointless just having chaos and elder cards and rules but oh well.. I know I had some more figures someplace..

yep. Getting that now ^_^ I might have played a game years and years ago but.. don't think so.
still debating basing vehicles.. but I debate that will 28mm sized ones too ^_^;
If I can't find the stuff (and I can't say I'm caring enough for a really huge search) It won't matter to much with a few Ork tanks, 1 space marine and a couple of Titan heads.

wonder why they went 6mm compared to 10mm which alot of small scale stuff appears to use more (though these days, HUGE range of scale levels ¬_¬)

My guess would be that 6mm corresponds to 1/285-1/300 scale a popular micro-armour historical wargaming scale from at least the late 1960's.

I would not be surprised if it was just a happy accident.

They made Adeptus Titanicus, that game took off so they thought about infantry, which based on the size of the Titans they had already made meant they would be about 6mm tall.

Stick some metal ones in with Titans to gauge interest and it took off.

I think I'm not gonna be able to get a base of him ^_^ still a nice guy to have.
and cause I'm an idiot and surely haven't got enough to paint, I've got a bunch of plastic epic space marines coming.. some which will need stripping at some point but most which aren't painted.. giving me some units of power armour, terminators, bikes, Rhinos and land speeders.. annoying I can't find any of the titans in the loft (I can't find the base set I should have up there) and.. £16 for 1 plastic titan? screw that.. I'll have to see about making my own up. sometime..

and saw something interesting that.. one of the newer versions they made they rescaled the figures to more 10-15mm which appears... odd.. not sure what that latest stuff scale is..

The new/current Epic stuff is more 10mm than 6mm.

The cynic in me says this is due to the multitude of companies that made 6mm sci-fi due to the popularity of Epic/Space Marine.
So now if you want to play GW's new game you can't use any of the models from these 6mm sci-fi companies, you will be forced to buy GW.

Thats how I felt with Primaris, instead of me replacing my old scale minis with the new cool spesh smurfs and Rowboat Girlyman I just left 40k behind.

You are correct, they are way bigger. It’s a shame as some of them are cracking models.
