Epic Space Marines

Does anyone know a good list or anything or Metal released Epic Space Marines? I know of the plastics and metal vehicles, but I don't seam to find a good list for tiny little 6mm space marines?

Just I got a nice random lot of metal and plastic bits (including 2 second design Flamers of Tzeetch) and in that lot, was a Epic Space Marine.. and I can't really have one all on his own now, can I? need to make it up to a unit... but when I was looking around for information on the range, I was mostly coming up with the plastics or just robots and vehicles..

Have you got a pic of him?

I play epic quite a bit. Most the metal marines I have are either terminators, characters or special units like Tech Marines, chaplains etc.

I do have one stand of Assault marines that are metal. Most the run of the mill troops were plastic.

Best I can do right now. Standard Marine. Backpack (not shown in this image) is a little long but I think that's sculpting size more then chaos who had the longer back packs. Bolt gun, no base makings (though maybe originally on a metal sprue.. which makes sense for the size. Helmet (again, very hard to see in this and hard to see with my eyes) is kinda beaky.. but I think that too is just due to size of sculpt.

well.. that does make it tricky to get a unit base done. I've got some old plastic vehicles but I'm not sure what else.. apart from some titan heads. tiny little things

Yeah I don’t recognise him. Beefier than a standard epic marine. Looks chaos but no spikes or blades on the bolters

Why not put him on a stand with standard marines and make him the captain or supreme commander?

Just spoke to an old mate of mine who played 1st ed Space Marine/Adeptus Titanicus, he had some of the metal marines and he is 99% sure his came with Titans. I asked if he still had them and unfortunately he sold his epic stuff off years ago. :( I know a few other people who used to play though so I'll see if they have any kicking about.

as I'm not an Epic player (I think I might have played a game or two years ago and I'm sure got a box set in the loft but I don't know if figures are still there.. I do have some bits like some vehicles, I think mostly Ork but don't have any marines where I know where they are to go with him. I'll have to have a dig in the loft but.. kinda have a problem with getting rid of some stuff.. some cause of 'I remember enjoying this and don't want to get rid of it because of that' and some 'can't be arsed to get around to it' with a bit of 'too good to throw, but no-one wants to buy'. Got the cat going in for a check (poor boy has a fairly common thing (it sounds like) and had to have 4 teeth removed the other day. He is doing fine but need to be careful he doesn't break the stiches or get an infection. Got a check up tomorrow, then a sign off hopefully the day before his birthday so hopefully, it should be fine.

anyway.. So I might not have the time to dig around tomorrow but I can try soon..

yeah, he seams to be fine. a bit more subdued this afternoon then normal but not a surprise. Even with the painkiller stuff I have to squirt down into his mouth each morning, it is bound to be a bit store for a bit. there are a couple more teeth he might need to have removed but at a much later date (early stages).. can't remember what it's called but it's when the jaw bone starts to absorb the teeth roots.. It is probably just called 'Feline Tooth Resorption'. Didn't really notice any signs as he was eating fine and everything but Vet noticed something a while back and with a recent appointment, it was to a stage they wanted to do something. He'll be 7 years old on the 18th ^_^ so he is pretty young and healthy boy. Idiot though..

Anyway.. I found on 'wh40k lexicanum' (Wh40k.lexicanum.com) some semi-useable images of old Epic figures.. from what I can see.. I can't see any difference between Chaos Space Marines and Space Marines.. but they are painted examples and not great images (some are from the rule book I think it says.. best examples which I should be able to link to are this unit of Marines:

vs

Apart from the captain, I can't see much differences in the marine figures.. and they look same pose and everything. I'm not sure about the bases.. I've kinda seen marines on a 20x20 square but.. like I said, not really an epic player..

I think there are a couple of players around here (forum) but decent lists of early epic stuff appears very hard to find.. and of course, 6mm isn't a great size to take a photo of.

The idea of setting epic during the horus heresy was that GW only had to pay for one set of tooling. The plastics could be painted as loyalist or traitor marines and they could just release metal add ons that were loads cheaper to make moulds for. Cost saving excercise that paid off!

quick check in the loft at what I could get to.. I got a bunch of the unit cards for Space Wolf units, which makes sense.. and 12 plastic Ork Bonebreaka's.. but as a couple of them don't have the roller attached, it could be one of a number of Ork vehicles which used the same body.. (and it's explained the tiny claw I got in the joblot with that marine.. it's one of the claws from the Ork Gutrippers).

pretty sure should have the box set for one of the epic releases but that's a bit hidden right now..

what base size does Epic want? Like i said, I've seen 5 marines on a 20x20mm base.. so some units would be 2 bases, some 1. I've seen special characters on 1 base, but I've also seen some strip bases which... I'm not sure the size of them.

well.. that's another issue really.. Can't say I'm really too much interested in playing right now as I have pretty much nothing (though I'm pretty sure I have the 3nd Edition box set.. so pretty much for that I guess)

recessed? as in raised edges? (like a non-slotta upside down).. mm.. only got solids in round.. I'm thinking 20mm squares are better and feel better.. also not too keen on vehicles not having bases.. they show most of them if not all don't have any... well, they might overhang a bit but.. just don't feel right without a base.
