Started work preparing my BSB and Fire Thrower unit.

Got an old plastic standard on order to fix to this chap.

Appears to be referencing a Skirmish game scenario published on the GW website in 2007?

some of them parts are from the second version of the Empire Steam Tank or atleast what looks like parts from that and some of the conversion kit parts. yeah.. I'm pretty sure of it.
the three barrels are the back end where the steam is generated, with the pistons and wheels and stuff from that.. the back platform with the dwarf is also from that.. Okay, I'll call call it that it is ALL from it.

I wonder if the plastic version of that kit is still on warhammer.com..

yep.. £50.. but you will need three... OR... I happen to have some molds on the way for a 'steam engine' and various bits.. if you don't mind a perfect copy or anything ^_^

well, when the molds turn up they aren't quite perfect and all but it's a set with a bunch of different gears and wheels, with parts of the plating and.. well, this:

Random question. What materials are used in all these molds? Freehand sculpting uses Greenstuff right? Is it a Resin used in these molds? Asking for a friend.

while they say suitable for all materials, I haven't used metal (don't think the silicone is good enough) but mostly Plaster or Resin

And just like magic, the moulds turned up today ^_^ I know it's not perfect of course (like the steam tank is more wood for the barrel like a large keg) but I'm up for some bits if you don't feel like paying £150 for the three copies of the steam tank ^_^
While the steam tanks steam barrel is 25mm tall, the one in this mold is 20mm tall.

Can't you knock something up with miniature wooden kegs x3 end to end? Vallejo do 1/35 scale barrels for dioramas. Or would it just look shyte?

If I was embarking on a project to make a Dwarf steam tank, it would definitely need the pistons, pipes and other metal work to look anywhere near to the kitbashed contraption from this old catalogue! 😉
