Dwarf Army - for BOYL, TOW and beyond - progress reports

Thought I would set up a thread to record my progress and plans for my Dwarf army that is slowly coming together.

What started as a New Years self-imposed challenge to paint up my old Regiment of Renowned Bugman's Rangers box set (see here), has escalated as I started picking up some Troll Slayers and a few other units to build on the small collection of Stunties I had retrieved from storage.

Have subsequently joined an The Old World campaign at a local gaming venue (shout out to Powder Monkey Gaming) and will be taking part in a couple of 3rd Ed games at BOYL.

Here are my army lists for BOYL:

The Wizard is awaiting a special base to better fit him as a Rune Priest for TOW and post-3rd Ed games.

The Slayers and remaining chaps!

These are for the larger TOW army campaign project.

I know! Am away on holiday the week before too… Trying not to put myself under too much pressure and afraid the skeletons are a “stretch goal”, but they should be relatively basic to knock out (any tips for the shield designs much appreciated!!).

Roses? I think Swords would be a bit tricky with that curved blade but depends on skill level ^_^
(erm.. research origin of playing card suits. The French deck which is mostly used these days (with the Pikes mostly referred to as Spades), come from the German Leaves (with the Swiss-German version being Roses.. the Leaves are too much like the Spades though), which was a replacement for the Latin Swords. Through the Latin suits come from (or believe to come back) the Chinese but the one is a pain.

Just wondered as that way it's the same suit (being the 'Spade' family) but a different one as it's based on a different older deck.

Dwarf v Dwarf battle in the TOW campaign yesterday day afternoon, the dice gods were in my favour to start with as my opponent had some bad rolls and I had some exceptional good ones. However my lack of tactical nouse saw my Slayers almost completely slayed before they got into combat, Bugman's rangers were picked off by cannon fire despite their armour and cover and my flame cannon was also destroyed…

Tabletop action! For all I have no interest in Old World as a game system (we have several living versions after all! ;) ) I do like the more spaced out unit on their 20mm bases. You can appreciate the figures more and it looks less likely to chip the paint!

Understand the concern about editions, I am taking minimal buy-in on the rules (relying on a free online listing builder and rules summary, quick guides and the patience of my opponents when asking naive questions about the rules!

The base size does look better, I hope will not cause too much offence to anyone at BOYL if using these movement trays for my minis…
