Don Hans Chaos Army Gallery

Really great, I like the fact that the ghost looks both tangible with the bene parts and their sharp edges and ethereal with the more vaporous parts.
I don't know if it's intended but the fact that the white middle part where physical and ethereal meet is thinner is really good because it looks like the ghost is actually coming from the ground like a drop would come from a ceiling but upside down. I mean a drop falling upwards, which makes it look even more creepy. The bright white on a strong black eye is simple but very effective in this case.

Ilove the bat, your blended coulours work th treat on this one and it looks like this one doesn't feed on blood only but on the soul too...

Had a feeling those amazing shields were hand painted ;)

That ghost is my favourite mini so far, simply stunning paint job

Keep em coming

That painted ghost is perfect, I agree with the other comments!

Am planning to try bases similar to yours, when I (hopefully soon) get around to beginning to paint my Oldhammer stuff...

That ghost is stunning, it actually looks translucent and ghostly! The bar has been raised, I don't think I can ever look at my grey/white dry brushed spirit hosts again.

Thank you very much!!!

Thanks again! /Hans

Actually I used the post on your blog already and got some Vallejo plastic putty... have tested on one model, very easy to use and get nice effects.

Great! That Vallejo plastic putty is fantastic - use it for a lot of different things. Used it straight from the tube on the Grenadier ghost to create the look that it was part of the ground.

I just love this work. The basing, the minis, the freehand, all superb. By any chance do you use oil washes?

Thanks!

Typically I don't use any washes at the moment. The finish of the washes are quite different to the finish of "normal" paints so I find it difficult to get the overall smooth result I want with washes. So layers, layers and more layers at the moment.

My 40k Khore renagades (http://realmofcitadel.blogspot.se/2013/ ... egade.html) were a different story though. Experimented a lot on them and used very heavy washes (citadel) so the paint started to crack. Also used color pigment power and pigment fixer on them and anything I could come up with that created a distressed look

Thx/Hans

Ahoy-hoy!

A Citadel Fiend Factory (FF49) Giant Spider joins the family. Started this one back in October but didn't get it right. Gave it a new try a few days ago and voila. I even got to use some of the left-over-green-stuff-mushrooms :)

And a family picture including some of my W.I.P's for the unit:

This is incredible, I love your use of vivid colours contrasting against the base, which in themselves are perfect to represent the chaos wastes. These old models have never looked so good in my opinion and like someone else said, actually make me want to collect some. If you don't mind I'd like to do something similar to you with your black and white line designs on the shields.

Your most recent picture of the assembled chaotic creatures together is chaos epitomised, such a range of different colours, shapes and sizes and your use of layers and multiple colours is virtuoso, so impressive!

Oh, wow! Truly awesome  I love how you dare to use colours... and how fantastic the results are! Absolutely terrific!

Yes these are insane and insanely good. Quite jealous of your really old lead and really great talent.

More amazing work. It makes my day when there's an update for these beasts.

Mine too. There are a whole lot of talented painters on here (including you, Mr. S!) but Hans' work is just such a fresh and different take on the models, which fits right in with Realm of Chaos in particular (for me).

Bane, Suber, Erny, Mr Saturday & Magos Explorator - thank you very much!

Bane - don't mind at all. Quite the oposite, would be great to see you take on it
