Boyl 16 Rise of Morcar, or HeroQuest the battle or BFFG

Here's the rest of the characters of my ogre contingent
The big mans killer, Gotafag - IF, the big mans busy, he'll send this chap - not much of a thinker, but skilled with hand, dart, axe, or poison, he has one job which he silently enjoys.

The Loner, Shado - acts as scout, so as to avoid being bullied by other members of the clan - as he's considered the rut of the big mans brood! But don't think he's a push over in a fight, as only the Big man and a few of his lieutenants would take him on alone!

The Clans Standard Bearer, Steady - currently in search of a suitable hide! Know to stand when a wiser ogre would run.

The big mans number two, Gotta - considered to be the nice one as he has been know to play with his food, and all round fixer for the big man.

Finally the big man himself, Golg, for short:- basically, a reasonable chap, that prudent folks might consider staying out of reach of - if, you know what's good for you

Hi chaps

I've been drafting a set of rules for this game, including spell selection. It's not complete yet but I'll try to get that out to you by the weekend. Please don't make any army lists until you get this, as ... well, they'll change. More on that shortly.

One of the key things I now need is a roll call (can someone get this out of Quick Ben and anyone else I don't know about):

1. Who is arriving on Friday?
2. Who is arriving on Saturday morning?
3. If you are bringing figures for both sides, which side is your preferred side to play? If you are in this situation, it is entirely possible that I'll ask you to play on the other side to balance numbers, but I'll do my level best to get you on the side if your choice. At the moment, the good guys are looking a little 'light'.

Thanks

I've spent the last 3 weeks painting up my army, making movement trays for the units and writing out pretty roster cards to accompany them... I'm putting it on the table! :)

Don't panic - all figures get used. What I don't want is for people to get caught up hours of list construction and in the minutiae of points calculations when they will be rendered largely moot. The rules pack will explain more. I'm not especially concerned that you've created roster cards, but in the speed of processng that we need, its entirely possible some players will ignore them on the day. I want to do my best to counter that and ensure processing speed is as high as possible.

I'm planning on leading my Rats but will be brining along what I've already mentioned. My Rats are to have a Daemon General to represent Praznagar Prince of Agony from AHQ. You can see on my latest blog post (he's just a 4th Ed Vermin Lord mini). I was planning on rolling up a Daemon Prince for him but if you want to handle his rules Gaj then I'm happy to leave it to you.

I'll be there Friday to hopefully get in at least one game of fourth.

I need to get Quick Ben to post up what he's bringing, all I know so far is approximately 3,000 points of Empire (to be combined with whatever Empire stuff Erny is bringing).

 Yay!

I've not worried at all about points, they're not very Oldhammer to my mind. ;)

Are there any oldhammer Ogre musicians? Other than the ROR.

Not that I can initially recall - made by GW or Citadel, but one or two may an instrument of one form or another hanging from a belt or baldric, though other manufacturers may have. Best person to ask would be Steve Casey, who should be in attendance over the course of the weekend.

Sorry for the lack of comms.

I've been painting! Everyones prep is looking very good now. I'm really looking forward to this.

In the past four weeks I've got the following done for the side of law (this is in addition to numbers already posted):

Forces I'm using

For the Brettonians
Six units of 6 Heavy knights, 18 Archers, 20 halberds, two cannon.

For the wood elves:
A further six medium cavalry (to go with the 36 I already have), 20 more archers, 4 eagle riders, two eagles, 6 zoats.

For the high elves:

A further 22 medium to heavy cavalry, 15 spears.

This means I can field a cavalry wing of about 117 and one chariot, including the zoats.

For the other forces:

Dwarves:

two more cannon, two more stone throwers, an extra gyrocopter and a steam wagon with cannon and mortar. Thats an impressive dwarven battery with the three cannon, gobblobber, two bolt throwers and gyrocopter already painted. If I find time I may get the fire throwers done.

Empire:
I've dug out my 6th ed Middenheim/Middenland army which will be joining us. Adding between 15 to 30 more heavy knights to the 19 I already have. I figure the empire cavalry should be about 115 strong. Oh I've also found my steam tank which has 3rd ed rules.

Barbarians:

Recently won some nicely painted Bearmen of Urslo that will fit in very well about 20 I think. Also dug out my 6th ed, "marauders" which may look good, I have a unit of about 15 fur clad ladies and the hero quest barbarian painted up.

I'm also in the middle of making a large hill, flat on one edge to rest on the base line about 4 foot wide at this point. It has between two and four levels as it is stack able. I just have to paint and flock it now. It will be for the ritual to raise Morcar, I just have to sort the summoning circle.

Oh and perhaps a few Dragons and elementals. There are daemons out there after all.

And with all those additions I'm now worried about the evil side having enough to even begin to slow you down.

If you're adding Elementals I hope you're toning them down as you are doing for Daemons.

Loving the enthusiasm Fimm, never had you down as a mass battle kind of gamer, more a skirmisher but I'm pleased to be proven wrong.

Haha, I'm really not a mass-battle-gamer but the last epic fights have looked so awesome and it's been a great drive to finish the clan so they can all get on the board. That's why I have to have everything planned out in advance and roster sheets so I can make sure I look up everything I'll need to know before the game begins.
