Best miniature related things todo in Nottingham UK

My name is Daniel, I work for Roll the Dice Cornwall CIC (https://rollthedicecornwall.com/). I am planning a surprise trip to Nottingham for the other Staff because it's been a crazy couple of months and they do so many awesome things, so I want to do something really special for them. I know very little about the miniature world and I really don't want the trip to be just Warhammer World. I was wondering if you have any advice or suggestions to help me plan a varied miniatures trip? I'd love to try and arrange a Factory tour or something "behind-the-scenes", something a bit different and special than just going to play events.

please delete if this is breaking any rules :) Im just trying to plan the best trip.

Many thanks for any help,

Daniel

Wargames Foundry, created by Bryan Ansell after he sold GW, is only about 30 miles away near Newark. It's in an old carriage court supposedly inspired by Hougoumont of Waterloo fame. They sell their figures, including some historical ones that Citadel used to produce, and have a bunch of nice gaming tables that can be used.

The staff & owners at Foundry are a very decent bunch. In your shoes, I'd approach them, tell them about your group and see what happens.

Another option could be Warlord Games which is also in Nottingham.

Sounds like a really sweet idea! Hope all goes to plan.

Am sure if they are more modern gamers they would appreciate Warhammer World. Should mention what your group do to the staff when booking a visit.

Seconding Foundry. Whilst in Newark the Civil War Centre is a good walk-around for an hour or so if you're in any way interested in such a subject.
I think for the experience a trip to Caliver Books in Nottingham may be fun. It's such an Aladdin's cave I don't know how they find anything!

What a lovely idea! I don't know the area either but was planning a trip (that didn't end up happening) a while back... is Nottingham Castle any good?

I completely missed that Warlord was there. I'll have to give them a visit when next I'm in the area myself. And yes, Foundry is fantastic. Truly a classic spot, and great people.

Looks like Foundry is closed now?
This is from their site as we speak:

"Our shop is East Stoke, Newark, Nottinghamshire is temporarily closed due to a electrical issue. Unfortunately, this means our phone line is also currently down.

Orders are still shipping as usual, please email us at customers@wargamesfoundry.com for any enquiries!"

I don't feel the pull of GW hq any more
Whilst I don't have the excitement I may once have had going into a GW store, sorry Warhammer store and that includes large ones like that at the HQ (although the FW bit was always drool worthy), I've always enjoyed their exhibition/museum halls each time I've been. Granted they don't have a huge number of old models and dioramas - although they do have some lovely classic pieces there. However I still enjoy the huge dioramas they have created, those still I think show the same creativity the staff have always had when they used to make the large display boards for Games Day/Golden Demon. Granted probably using more of their own kits these days for the kit bashing, but they are still fun to look at and find little easter eggs and so forth that have been hidden. The gaming hall is quite atmospheric for a game (as is Bugman's bar), although with those flagstones woe betide you if you drop a metal model :)

So whilst I'm not going to drag my lethargic self up to Nottingham just for the HQ if I had the time I'd probably pop in especially if with friends.
