Astropaths really appeal to me Cheetor - I have another female (old woman) planned too! Maybe I'll make a full army of them ;)
I haven't done the same count as you've done, Jon - but did you include the Talisman Timescape astropath in your 6?

Nice work on the conversion, as always. =)

Thanks phreedh!

By my reckoning there are 6 GW Astropaths:

1. RT Korm
2. RT Yerl
3. Talisman
4. Inquisitor henchman
5. FW Inquisitor henchman
6. Regimental advisor

Don't tell me I've missed one?!? ;)

Please don't tell me you missed the LE Marauder one

One could also arguably add the Iron claw Star raven (never knew if that one was an astropath or navigator (or none)).

Marauder one? :o

Star Raven doesn't really have the key Astro path elements. I'm saying he's something else ;)

Nope, to my knowledge I think that's it. I had just forgotten about the Talisman one myself and then spotted it yesterday and thought "hey wait a minute, maybe Jon missed that one".

I agree, I dont think that he is an Asrropath. Star Raven has eyes too IIRC (although technically not all Astropaths end up blind, and even the blind ones dont always lose their eyes... but I doubt that making an Astropath model with eyes would be a high priority).

The figure has "Time Lord" written on his tab for some reason.

I have assumed for a while that Star Raven is either a rogue navigator or more likely a non chaotic rogue psyker.

That's all I need to start getting MANY ideas of cool stories. I mean real cool stories.

I can commit right now to a BOYL 2015 game using the Iron Claw Pirate set and Star "Time Lord" Raven and the Doctor with you JB. Right now. I even have a super top secret project that would fit in with the plan... just say the word.

I never watched Doctor Who as a kid, I dont really have much fondness for it. My wife likes it and we watched all the Ecclestone and Tennant series, but I really dont think that its very good, although occasionally there are good bits. I know that I am in the minority in that regard, so I dont mention it much.

However...

It has the best theme tune of any show ever. Better than Hawaii Five-O, better than the Streets of San Francisco, better than Knight Rider, better than Wonder Woman, better than Star Trek, better than the Mighty Boosh... the best. Ever.

Sorry for the derail. Back to Astropaths. Please tell me that the thing about the unreleased Marauder Astropath that you mentioned above is a wind up... there isnt an unreleased Marauder Astropath, is there?

And that Time Lord can ,of course, end up on a very "medieval" planet of a very distant past , full of Fantasy creatures to deal with...oh my....

Some more WIP pics of work from the last week or so.

I've started planning out where the exotic alien pet trader will work - here's all his wares on display:

WIP%2B2.JPG

The trader himself is a Citadel Wizard with an added 15mm alien and fantasy familiar from Reaper. His stock is displayed on a table courtesy of cheetor (containing more 15mm aliens and an old squig), in a cage (cheap jewellry piece from China) and a corral (Playmobil pet run with more squigs, 15mm aliens and old chaos familiars).

I've also created another wierd thing, this time using a bloodletter body and the head from a chaos thug:

More details on the blog - enjoy!

Cheers! Hopefully it won't take me too long to paint the pets - I plan to try and paint one alongside other models in an attempt to knock them out quickly :)

In spite of the fact that previous projects are piling up at the painting log-jam, I've started yet another one...this time spawned from the Inq28 forums over at Ammobunker. The basic principle is to turn a movie character into a 40k-themed one. I chose Prince Nuada from Hellboy 2 as a good basis for an Eldar Pirate Prince.

Step 1: Dig out Elric Kinslayer from the Eternal Champions line (my one had a slightly damaged sword).

Step 2: Remove damaged sword and file down breastplate. Sculpt new breastplate following RT Space Elf design.

Step 3: Add pistol from a RT Space Elf. Sculpt tunic and pectoral armour plates.

Step 4: Sculpt sash. Add base plate for bionic eye. Sculpt gems and blisters. Add cable and blade to gun.

Step 5: Sculpt knot on sash. Add another gem to the armour and a lens to the bionic eye. Add connector to cable.

I think he's about ready for painting :)

Prince Nuada (plus his kin) was probably the best representation of elves in cinema, more alien and "other" than the usual "good looking human with pointed ears" interpretation. An excellent choice of subject, and all the more so because you are sci-fi-ing it up too :)

That's a quality start, I'm sure that you will have quite the Eldar corsair by the end of this.

didn't even know that character (thought I had seen the film but it seems I haven't ) but it is a great choice to make one very characterful villain. I like villains to be cunning and evil and this one looks just full of both. Splendid conversion work here showing once again (if proof was needed) that Goodwin's creations really match beyond what they had been planned for. really looking forward to seeing this one.

Thanks guys :) It's been quite a challenge to make the figure a recognisable homage, without being an identical copy or losing the 40k vibe. Happily, I think sculpting the new armour plates does most of the work in terms of establishing the setting...meaning I can get away with the knee-length tunic, soft boots and cloak.

Of course, I probably need to make a few Eldar renegades to hang around with him at some point ;)

2 ways of seeing this : He either relies on a very small number of very skilled trustworthy vets OR on hordes of moronic servants (to keep it in a movie vibe) , from there a small team of fellow eldar renegades makes sense ;)

Great job. Your skills with the green stuff are growing in power. Nice smooth well proportioned symmetrical work that is hanging naturally. It's definitely time you tackled a full figure!

You're going to keep the pressure on until I do it, right? ;)
