Asslessman's WHFB gallery

Re: Asslessman's WHFB Chaos gallery

Have you considered using the spoiler option for them? Paint looks good though.
Everytime I see some of these great minis I think why did I sell my 5 I had only a couple of years ago :(

hehe no worries on the conversion though they look good and I have converted hundreds of oldhammer minis over the years and still do it today
not started on any preslotta mini converting though yet..

Re: Asslessman's WHFB Chaos gallery

You're right, spoiler tool added. Paint is OK on the lizard skin part. Metals are definitely better the way I do them know and they could greatly benefit from a nex treatment and the skin could look better too, they were the first models on which I used my personnal recipe for washes.
Far before badab black and devlan mud, I used to (and still do) use PVA with ink a water to make washes. the recipe was not good on these but I got the mix quite rapidly. A more subtle one would be better and the plastic hands really look like crap. If I find some replacement hands, I may give a go to updating these since I'm confident I can do them in very little time (not a lot of details though they are very fine) ad not a lot of textures.
Converting old lead... as years go by, I'm gettig better in modelling and yet getting more reluctant to doing it... :)

Re: Asslessman's WHFB Chaos gallery

After all this time, I didn't think I'd finish him one day, I must have started it before registering on this forum... :?

BUT he is here and he's ready to hunt all the other chaos champions out there !

This magnetised little buddy will take any form to accomplish his mission (and if he gets to hug the sweet Arianka in the process... 8-) )

All you'd want to know about the build and all in the associated blogpost

Re: Asslessman's WHFB Chaos gallery

Looks great! Love the color choices on these. And your metallics are really well done.

Re: Asslessman's WHFB Chaos gallery

I love your champion, and I do not love the chaos. But him? He's great! A question: why am I finding no way around the spoiler tag to your dragon ogres? I would dearly love to see them.

Cheers !

There should be a little arrow on the side of the spoiler tag that enables you to see it but if it doesn't work , you may have to try from another browser...

Re: Asslessman's WHFB Chaos gallery

Aha! I didn't see the little arrow. It was apparently a PEBKAC or id10t error. The browser works fine. The dragon ogres look good, actually. Wouldn't have known they were conversions if you hadn't said something, as I'm not too familiar with fantasy. Surprising direction for the paint, though. I'm much more accustomed to seeing them taken in more green, zoaty directions. I like it. They look great as humanoid.

OK, this is a commission I made in exchange for an illustration from Zhu. The Ogre is an old ogre hero from the Fantasy Warlord range (circa 91) and the goblin is from Redbox games but the pair just works wonderfully I find (Zhu's choice).

I strongly advise you to go check the illustrations, backstory and musical inspirations I used for this pair on which I had to push my limits a little. (Blogpost HERE).

Many thanks to Zhu for letting me work on this excellent pair with such exquisite inspiration.

Oh, man, these are so beautiful! I particularly love the skintones, but the whole overall look is gorgeous!

Cheers guys, I cannot recommend both sculpts enough, I've opted for something simple to fit with the moodboard but you can really go to town with those. just the right level of detail and textures on those.

Wow, they're great and the effort you put in really shows. And by combining skin colour transitions on the red noses, verdigris and tartan you've also done all the things I find trickiest to paint on a single figure. Show-off ;).
Love the eyes on the big guy especially. Very realistic.

Aha cheers ! I'm glad you noticed the eyes as I've tried to used the extra space to make them right !

Beautiful paintjob!

Although they are from different manufacturers and periods, they look as if they were always meant to be together :) I could imagine them being on the front cover of a fantasy novel with the title "The adventures of Aeldwurth and Skungevinger"

Class! They really look like they have come from a set, nicely tied together. They should indeed get their own range of fantasy novels for adults and children, preferably illustrated by Blanche and Miller.
