Hey that banner looks great! Doesn't it feel good to get one knocked out?

Cheers,

Blue

It did until I put up the camera equipment and noticed his boot is chipped to Hell and had to be fixed

Okay, I haven't had time to take any photos lately, but I've finished the unit of Dark Elf Crossbows and a Beast Handler (Thanks Harry!) and 6 chaos hounds (Thanks quite a few of you here!).

And here is a shot of the army so far:

Splendid Andrew, really splendid, I love every bit of them. The hounds are particularly good with the flayed one but the overall look is sinister though the colours used are pale and clear. Skin and lips are really nice and that purplish scale mail is absolutely great.

This thread is great, wonderful stuff.

The colours used on the homicidal transvestites are daring, yet they still work. I wouldnt have the nerve to follow through on some of those combos.

I do like those old Dark Elves, both the Citadel and Marauder ones. I painted a number of them twenty years ago and I definitely still have a soft (hard?) spot for the creepy pervs.

Great work.

The mail is the old metallic purple from 15 years. I've had an unopened pot of I that finally decided use. It separates something crazy though to point where it almost highlights itself.

Thanks. I normally would not try some of these either. I generally prefer muted tones, but I have to keep reminding myself 1) these are oldhammer, and 2) these are dark elves!

Y'see the thing is that I find it difficult to paint in earthy or muted tones, so I tend to limit my palettes to avoid things getting too gaudy and busy. So I love seeing people being more adventurous in that respect get away with it. Its encouraging.

Finished this Ogre Captain last week:

I used pigments to do the mud at the base, not entirely happy with the way it came out. My idea was an Ogre Captain looking across the battlefield after victory and surveying the carnage. The pics are a bit washed out, but I think I might should have taken the highlights on the flesh further.
This is my all time favourite figure. You've done it justice in my opinion.

I'm generally not adventurous either. Which is another reason convinced myself to take on this project.

Thanks, one of mine too. I shouted him in a $1 used miniature bin over a decade ago was afraid to paint him. Painting for oldhammer is really helping me enjoy painting again.

I'm loving those dark elves and the hounds especially.

Lovely stuff in this thread, you are doing a fine job with the painting! I note one of the hounds seems to be flayed alive. :)

The hounds were fun and quick. I think I have 3 hours total in the unit of 6. And I did shamelessly borrow the idea of a flayed hound ;)

They look Great! I particularly like the purple scale mail on the first guy...colored metallics are a difficult road to travel sometimes...they can very easily look quite cheesy IMO...this is certainly a case where they were done right! 8-)

Well done.

Long time, no update. But I've finished the Crooked Claw Shaman (tightly clutching his purple helmeted staff):

And a Dark Elf Sorcerer (thanks to Bug for the Sorcerer and Zhu for the dragon master horse!):

Oh man.... now I have to resist the urge to switch gears to my Dark Elves.

Must..... finish...... Rogue..... Trader...... stuff.

Please resist that urge, I don't want to be shown up!

Since it will be a while before I take real pictures, here is a sneak peak of what I just finished a few minutes ago:

Nice. The face on the middle rider is particularly expressive. I look forward to seeing these in person.

Are you going to oldhammer day in Baltimore? If so, I'll have them there.
