Aggro84's Citadel Minis

I managed to complete another batch of minis.
Weather permitting, I will try to get some better photos tomorrow.

Not exactly Oldhammer, but I started these Mordheim Cultists.
The previous owner hacked some of the details off of a couple of these.

Beautiful minis. I am seriously considered changing my base style. Your bases add a lot to the overall look of the mini. Perfect.

Thank you gentleman
I am sorry though, all three of the elves were from an eBay lot. I don't know who made them!
:?:

I gave some weather powders / pigments a try for the first time.
I applied them by adding mineral spirits as suggested here:

I was pretty pleased with the results especially for a first go.

Plus a pic of various stuff on the work bench. Notice the unpainted plumber's putty mushrooms on some of the bases.

And if anyone's interested, I have made the first initial steps into creating a modular cobblestone city board.

I bought some weathering powders to use on my 15mm tanks. They turned out OK for mud and weathering but where incredibly messy. Towards the end I preferred the clean non weathered look and so I gave up. The powders still sit there to this day mocking me.

The powders have certainly given this latest batch a very chaotic look. Like they had just stepped out of the wastes.

Thanks Rob S!
Did you try applying the powders with turpentine or mineral spirits? There really was no mess for me.

Thugs look great! You've really done a bang up job with your thugs.
The cobblestone deal looks like quite an undertaking, but I really look forward to your progress. If it comes out half as good as the houses look top-down, it will be awesome!

Sounds like you went too big too fast. Less is more with pigment/powder, especially with rust.
Try applying it dry with a small brush & then hitting with a fixer (i.e. some turp/alcohol. There is a learning curve, but you can always clean up excess with a turp-damped brush.
I've used pigments on 6mm & I've seen folks working with them on FoW AFVs. The rust here was lightly applied dry pigment followed by turp fixer to set it in place (The streaks are done with oils.):

Thanks for the advice.

I had read, or watched some youtube video somewhere to put the fixer (Taimya brand pigment fixer I think not metholated spirits) down first, then apply the powders. I ended up using a lot of powder in order to get a result when I applied it to the fixer. At the time it was very messy. I will have a go at the small brush then fixer method.

The other thing about pigments is that certain things (like dust) can take lots of thin layers, and if you try to do it all at once you'll waste a lot of pigments and make a big mess.

I like themm all a lot but I have to say the lad with crest and rusted armour and the warrior with the verdigris armour stand apart frm the rest. working on the textures really gives the best of the sculpt. These are really inspiring.

Very good job
