A few old mags (for nostalgia’s sake)

Dug these out of the archive (aka the old folks’ home) and thought might be fun to share to spark some interest.

Have another issue of Mars, was a American magazine, not sure how long it lasted?
Sure we all know about Red Giant… Some fun article nevertheless.
Anvil was a little sparse on content, but nice enough production.
Picked up The Awakening on sale at a Derby Games Day when GW was still off loading their older RPG and board games
The Grenadier catalogue has plenty of awesome Copplestone minis.

whoa.. the Red Giant Mag looks... very Ego-centric. we have the name 'Red Giant' clearly to rival 'White Dwarf', and the 'for intelligent games'. yikes..

A few of the older ones, although that Dragon is 1993 - is that too new?

It isn’t now…

The handful of Dragon mags are still in the “storage”, mainly before it went square bound. Some classic Brom Dark Sun covers that were so inspiring in art classes!

I sold quite a few of mine to clear some space when I was having a "really need to cut down RPG stuff" purge. Still they all went to good homes.

Just had a gander at the art, has a naive charm to it, not quite to standards of 2000AD. ;) Guess that is quite early Karl Kopinski? Not developed to the style he is better known for.

Could be. Mordheim was released in late 1999 and the compilation of earlier Ulli & Marquand strips was published in 2002.

FWIW, there were two other artists involved (Paul Jeacock & Mike Perkins). The cover of the compilation is Paul's work.

Unearthed an envelope of old Harlequin Miniatures mail outs from late-90s, including some neat colour flyers, details of their licenced minis (Dr Who, Babylon 5 and Lord of the Rings) and the fateful final letter introducing their sale to Black Tree…IMG_0533.jpeg
Been checking out their dwarf minis as a cheaper alternative to expensive Citadel stuff, some lovely sculpts amongst the catalogue.

Caveat emptor if buying them from Black Tree Design as their customer service is legendary and not in a good way. To be fair, my one order was delivered though it wasn't quick.

I got the impression from this thread that Blacktree's UK operations were now essentially dead, although it's been many years since I last personally ordered anything.

Love the old flyers.

I saw an action on ebay in passing and snagged the snaps for this thread:

Not a publication which crossed my youth, but plenty of old school vibes coming off it! :)

The company is out of business now. I don't know if John died or not but no-one is running the site or anything, so that also means it can't be taken down.

So sadly, you can't buy from them and the site is kinda a no-go to site cause, due to how things are set up, it'll take your money. Not just UK but US as well. Eoe Orbis is defunct.

Interestingly, I'm pretty sure 10 larch close was their mum's house as it was across the road from my grandparent's place when I was a kid.

Dean was my manager at GW back in the early 90s, pretty sure our parents knew each other.

Well I guess when the Shopify money runs out they will die. You'd hope if it was sadly down to death that the executor would be able to notify them to take down the sites. I wonder how many sales they are doing without anyone knowing. Hopefully someone might pick up some of the IP, they had some nice models.

When do they date from? RPG content or wargaming?
I didn't bid on them, just snagged the pictures as I'd been on this thread earlier and thought they were appropriate. 1970s apparently. Bit about them on RPG Geek.
