A blast from the past

You have really a very nice collection, man.
I've kept an eye on your thread at Warseer every time it goes up, looking for news, and it's cool to see you here with your old stuff !

Lovely stuff, lots of characters from the cover of one of the first ever RPG related books I bought as a small boy, Dicing with Dragons! :)

One of my first introductions to the hobby too.
I am planning on a Blog post about it when I get to D.
I don't have many more minis from the cover however as most are Ral Partha as the few toys I could afford back then were almost exclusively citadel.

Thanks very much. Seems like the right place for it. great to have found a bunch of sad old gits like myself who like this old stuff.

One of the Norse I painted up recently is another real oldie but I am not sure what range he is from ... but he is Citadel and he is Pre-slotta.
(Any help with I.D. appreciated).

As we were going to the Foundry for 'Oldhammer Day' and Brian Ansell himself would be there ... I painted up a couple of my fave very early Brian Ansell sculpts from the original heroic adventurers set:

It has been a while ... but a few 'Pre slotta's' caught my eye and got some paint thrown at them.

Starting with this fella.
One of my fave minis of all time ....not Citadel but Ral Partha. (But there in the early citadel catalogues).

Great model and great paint job, but man, does his hand look oversized for his body.
The hand is normal sized ... it is just a very BIG glove.

Another Fantasy Tribe fighter, later C-series fighter ...

The knights errant.
(I may put more gold on the armour).

Spotted this fella I have not posted yet.
Started a while ago but finished and based along with these other fighters:
One of my favorite Barbarians ... very Conan!

Lovely work. Love the barbarian, it's the mini that citadel based one of the first RTsculpts on, (just a weapon swop but one of the rarer ones, getting him completed that release for me).

Love the spined dragon. Mine's still mib so interested to see your take on it.

re: wings, tissue paper or foil or something else?

Cheers

Something else.
Green stuff. Pressed so thin that it started to rip naturally.
There is a thread around here somewhere with all the WIP pictures.

I have had another go at this lil' lady.
One of my favorite minis of all time.
I picked up a sculpt in better shape than my old mini and did a slightly different, more armoured paint job.

A lot of the really early models don't do it for me. But this model does. Nicely done. The blonde hair looks great.

Thanks fellas.
I appreciate the positive feedback.
Glad you enjoyed the stroll down memory lane.
More to come.

I painted this, Citadels first, wolf:
He is a Fiend Factory mini FF69
