2022: Legacy Crew: Space A-Team Sign UP

Symphonic poet kindly invited me to participate in this. I'm not sure I'm going to be in the best position to do so this time, but is there a FAQ on this challenge format somewhere that explains what's expected? Here's what I'd like to know:

First, since this is an Oldhammer forum: should all miniature contributions be Oldhammer? If so, in what way? Should we only select miniatures dated from the 80's, from the 80's and 90's, or just minis that stylistically have an Oldhammer look, no matter when they were made? Or is any miniature, of any era and style, fair game? And is it "bad form" to use a non-GW mini that's still fairly cheap to obtain today, when other people in the competition are using old Rogue Trader minis?

Second, when selecting the model and paint job, how close do we need to match the theme and particular A-Team character? For example, could an Ork painted Green be substituted for one of the A-Team guys? Or even a human figure who has the wrong hair style and color? Or does each model really need to resemble the TV archetype fairly closely?

Finally, when are all entries for this particular competition due to be submitted?

Thanks again for the invitation, and for putting up with my newbie questions. If I can't contribute this time, I'll be watching this space going forward for the next sign-up.

I've submitted Ral Partha's Shadowrun miniature. Necromunda ganger from 90s will be used as one of the characters if I recall.

Since I've been running it, here's my own take on the thing:

How does this work?
We pick a theme that we think sounds cool, and folks sign up to submit something that fits the theme. You submit one (or more) miniatures and I put your name in a hat and draw it out. (Or more accurately I, or another moderator rolls a die. Hey, we're wargamers here. We like dice, right?) It's a basically a raffle where one (or occasionally more) miniatures buys you a chance to win the lot. Everyone gets the same chance, no matter the size, complexity, or even number of their submissions. This is for fun. I usually submit myself.

What's the timeframe?
Post me the miniature anytime in 2022 and you're good. Once I'm confident from the thread that I have everyone's submission I randomly select the winner and mail everyone off together. (I'm hoping I win myself this time, since . . . A-Team! But it'll be an honest die roll, however we do it. I actually posted up a video of the thing last year singing a Nurgle song to the tune of Chim-chim-a-ney.)

What models can I contribute?
Can you make it fit the theme of Space A-Team? Anything will do. We work in 28mm scale. Old Citadel is lovely, but not required. I'm probably using an in-production Reaper mini this year myself. In the past I've used Citadel, RP, Ramshackle, and I forget what all else. If it fits the theme it will be fine. :) Everyone has been very laid back.

How will this warband look coherent?
Aha! There is a spot color. Blue and light brown was the choice this year, since . . . A-Team. We settled on a round base, since that's pretty simple and people can change it fairly easily. (Simple and black is always good, since it's easy to change.)

How do I take part?
Sign up with a comment on this thread. When you're done you'll mail your miniature to a random musician in St. Louis and hope for the best.
This content can only be seen by Legacy Crew members

(And I'm sure I'll repost that a few times. And you can always PM me if you have more questions.)

Anyway, I hope you will join us! :)

Sincerely,
SymphonicPoet or David Ackerman (As you prefer. Or even that annoying git from the Middle West of the United States.)

So with a change of character I have my miniature finished. I found this mini in the lead pile amongst some female Reaper fantasy females I traded for some snotlings. So now she is a Citizen reporter from the favelas of some city in the backend of the galaxy bringing the truth to the net public from her hand held info centre / recorder. She's the equivalent of the glamorous reporters of the TV series but with a bit more bite due to her marrtial arts/ dance skills which explains the knife and sash, perhaps more than a little of the Bride as well. Valaria Oh by name.

As always comments and criticism encouraged.

I have been dragging my heels on this one, but tomorrow is the day for a few hours of paint!

^I understand. I'm dragging my heels too. I figure as long as you get them done and in the mail by the end of the year it's all good. Just make sure you photograph them and post them up here so we know what's happening before you box them up and put a stamp on. ;) We'll get this done yet!

Well I've finally started the transportation for our intrepid gang! In colours sympathetic to its inspiration I hope!

Ha!
It took quite a bit not to paint him as I would an actual Goliath ganger - which kinda would be exactly the same except if pinstripe the trousers and paint the mohawk stripey...

We have a crazy pilot to join the team! Sorry for taking so long. I’ll tidy his base up and pop him in the post directly after Christmas. Hope everyone has a good one.
