They are conversions... the lad on the left initially came with the heavy melta gun fixed on the tripod. He's been now given a plastic bolter. The one on the right was initially a heavy weapon marine but I've removed an arm and replaced it with RTB01 plastic - his bolter is also slung across his back, allowing him a nice close combat pose as he stalks Ork within the shadowsLove the camo and old beakies!
Don’t recognise the flanking marines in the top photo? Are they converted?
Appreciate it, thank you! I initially found painting camo patterns to be quite difficult (being colorblind doesn't help either, lol)... the patterns always looked so forced. The most organic way in my mind was to approach it with patterns that were invisible- the masking fluid worked wonders for this because you can't really see what you've applied. A few zenithal coats later and then removing the dried fluid created these beautifully intricate designs. I have imperial guard done the same way with more traditional army colors, and the randomized color distribution looks so authentic - I will post them next. Simply put - sometimes our brains are too organized... camo imagery should truly be "unexpected" to be effectiveYou've done a fantastic job on these and the blue and black looks like a surprisingly effective camo too. And I've just had to look up how masking fluid works. Was it a lot easier than painting on the camo? I'm guessing you took it off after highlighting everything else? Great stuff.
