Golgfag's preparations for BOYL 2024

Following exchanges here and elsewhere, I'm looking to run games of Space Fleet and something else (to be decided), other than WFB. So to show willing, here's my initial efforts of splashing a little paint over a few figures and models - first edition RT7 dreadnoughts, RTB9 Terminators and C100 spacemarines, just the basing and varnishing to do.
My first applications of colour to my additional eldar ships didn't go well and are now taking another dettol bath

Enjoy

Some lovely models you've got done Paul. I like the classic colour combinations. Some RT7 Dreadnoughts have always been on my want list, another model that has grown on me over the years (which alas means I never bought one back when they were less crazy prices!)

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll be honest the Naismith marines have always been my fravorite marines, the others just fit the period, I've picked them up in ones and two over the last thirty years or so. I have to confess these have sat in a to do box for way too long, hence, the push to get them done - only another squad of marines, the other four terminators, two landspeeders and a few oddites to do and I'll have finished all the imperials I have.

I'll then start the grenadier war robots to give them something to play with!

I think most of my RT figures are plastic ones. well, for the normal marines.. the backpacks aren't too hard to bash up though. Of course, alot of my space wolves also have the RT terminators which were kept in production for some time, and some generic ones to. Haven't seen any RT jumppacks.. got a couple of the 2ed ones

I know, it's only a single figure, but it's better than nothing and what a figure - LE10 Power Armour Trooper from way back in 1988. A bit battered and bruised initially but it turned out OK at the end, to join my squad of five, originally painted by myself over ten years ago and not a bad match. I used them as Grey Knights with my Sisters of Battle way back when!

Currently passing over my painting table as practice pieces for OWAC 2024 - Tom Meier Lizardmen - enjoying the process, but suspect I'll be bored come the actual event given the mono-pose of the figures, time will tell.

Must say, always had feeling that these were bigger minis. They look great, nonetheless.
Thanks. Yes, they're on the small side when compared to more modern figures, but their class stands out when you get up close, my painting really does them very little justice.

Carrying on my practice pieces for next years OWAC here's more Tom Meier lizardmen to joining the batch I did last week, I'm going to have to stop now, otherwise I'll have none left for the challenge.

Lovely red on the cloaks Paul. Goes very nicely with the blue. I've used the same colour scheme on my Night Haunts (Although I need to summon up the energy to finish highlighting them)

Lovely red on the cloaks Paul. Goes very nicely with the blue. I've used the same colour scheme on my Night Haunts (Although I need to summon up the energy to finish highlighting them)
Four different reds applied - red gore, knorne red, mephiston red and evil sunz scarlet takes time but the results are worth it.

Excellent job on these, lovely colour scheme, particularly like your work with the green- to me it has the appearance of jade and fits really well with the oriental-style sculpts

The next thing to hit my painting table, in an attempt to stop me painting Lizardmen - a war tortoise, I still have the basing and varnishing to do, but you all know that'll happen soon enough.

Enjoy

I was going to say, are you sure that's a tortoise and not a turtle but... yes.. Tortoises are land based, turtles are sea base (rarely going onto land apart from to lay eggs).. which is why the Teenage Mutant Hero Tortoises ^_^; (due to the original 'parody' nature, they are SOO not ninja.. Always felt the Hero Name made FAR more sense..)

Anyway, Nice work so far. I'm pretty sure it's Male.. (longer tail, female have pretty small tails) but.. can't see the head cutout under it's head to see if it's a V or a U ^_^ Don't mind me..
