There was a time when I hated the big hat dwarfs with a passion. I find myself strangely drawn to them these days, although not in the red/black scheme you always see them in....help...meeeeeeee......

It's funny how some things grow on you over time. There are things I hated back in the day or wasn't too keen on that these days I quite like. Hated Heroquest and Space Crusade, now wish I had them. Didn't like the silly football hooligan orc/orks of the early 90's but now I rather like them (at least the 40K stuff anyway). Wasn't keen on most of Marauder's stuff but now like most of it.

Aesthetics change plus utter crap can be considered treasure when retro makes it cool.

That said I've always been partial to the Marauder stuff.

Often it's not even crap it's more that in my case I was a dumb teenager who had a very narrow idea of what I'd accept (much like my music and film tastes at the time).

Let me qualify my statement, I meant utter crap from a perspective of then as opposed to now.

Seems a lot of stuff I like is getting bagged pretty hard in this thread

Best stay away from my plog as it develops :)

/me still likes his bases green

i have to admit that i often choose a plain goblin green base with a few tufts of flock. because it's old school, that's why.

Why oh why goblin green bases?

That one I'll never get. I know they repeated "because it photographs well/true to the real-life colour", but it still looked terrible. During the 90s, when they occasionally showed an army or single model with a more realistic colour it really stood out as better! I had a look through the 2nd edition 40k rulebooks the other day and I really do remember loving those occasional urban grey bases. The less said about goblin green Necromunda bases the better...

Hello there

I'm okay with the big hats but they aren't great. It was a very cohesive line of figures at the time, which was pretty cool.

As an owner of many dragon ogres, I feel I can settle this question.

nick bibby dragon ogre - I've owned multiple of these (humble brag) and its hands down the best version.

marauder 1st version - These aren't....great. The model isn't that sharp and the goofy face just doesn't work well.

Marauder 2nd version - Defiitely feels like an updated version of the goofy face. Not bad with the different poses but the face isn't my favorite.

Shaggoth - Great modern GW model but for some reason they made the terrible decision to give him tiny t-Rex arms.

Plastic dragon ogres - Pretty great for current plastic kits.
