Where do people play?

I have no real interest in moving ^_^ I guess the main issues I have is mostly are probably the same in different places.. alot of it appears run down, some areas which try to be 'high brow' or 'creative' but aren't great, alot of half-arsed stuff like stuff which is only open or doing anything for the tourist season. It also seams to want to destory alot of it's past.. the Town was a major fishing port, yet every so many years, the fishing huts (which are still in use and were drawn well well be Beatrix potter) get to be under threat of the council wanting to remove them, the local castle/fort had alot of it destroyed in the 70s to make way for housing and what is there they don't seam to be bothered with, the built a shopping centre in the centre of town on the WORSE possible land (it was the cricket ground and is ontop of a large underground lake, they decided to build the shopping centre there, could only do 2 floors instead of what they wanted because the ground can't support it, but then had problems with it sinking and flooding alot cause.. the underground lake. They moved the collage to right next to the train station, built a really ugly built a really ugly building (along with an ugly new train station) which the builders not only didn't follow the plans (thus leading to a lawsuit) but the art department of what was a art and Tec collage, weren't happy cause the specially made rooms had ceilings which were way too low for them etc..

but like I said, probably the same in alot of places and there are good things but... It's just my general views on things. They used to film alot of shows set in the past in some areas until the council decided to replace alot of stuff like the street lamps with modern ones, which screwed up the filming.

^Yeah, I suspect at least some of that really is the same everywhere. Decay and neglect are probably present in any town much more then maybe a fifty years old. (And what right minded individual would want to live in a town with no history, I say?) There are probably always fights between the people that would see the old things repaired and maintained and those who want them replaced. Garbage modern developments seem pretty universal.

Oh, but in answer to the question, I play mostly in a couple of local game stores and in the setup in my basement. It's not terribly relevant to the forums since the American Midwest is so distant to most other members (even though I keep encouraging local oldhammerers to join up.) I need to get my butt back to BOYL. Hope you can find some productive local gaming. :)
