War Hound WIP

Very nicely done. Looks like he'll be quite a good sized chap when done (no bad thing the Armorcast ones are a little on the smaller side of things). I'm going to massively enjoy watching this beastie come together. Love a good titan build.

I’m doing a 10:1 scale up. Makes life a bit easier converting mm to cm. Little dudes carapace is 25mm in length so big guy is 25cm long. So far the scale seems ok. He will be about 30cm in height not including the dorsal spines. I plan to make the weapons a little shorter than the armorcast version. I always thought they seemed a bit to long.

Some lovely carving work there, looking very good. Excellent bit of scratch building.

The Armorcast ones are about 9" tall if you count their carapace spikes. They were always a little undersized I think, the current generation of ForgeWorld Titans feel a better size from that perspective (although with scale creep maybe they are undersized now!). Totally agree on the weapons, while the warhounds in EPIC do have stupidly long guns it can look a little silly scaled up. Obviously with the Armorcast ones they were just using the same weapons between the Warhound and Reaver. (If you want/need and photos from the Armorcast one just shout, my Warhounds (the models not the actual war hounds) are literally sat next to me)

EDIT - thinking about it the EPIC models do have longer torsos than the Armorcast one, that's probably partially why the weapons don't look as silly. Might have to go and find some EPIC ones to have a look at now, but having just measured the carapace on one of my Armorcast ones and it's 13cm front to back (so just the carapace, not including head or anything), so that's quite a bit shorter.

Cheers for that insight. I’m only going off pictures of the warhound it’s great to get info on the actual armorcast original from someone who owns one. All my measurements are coming from an EPIC warhound that I own. Any and all help is greatly appreciated:)

Well I mean the Armorcast ones are only scaled off the EPIC ones so you're working from the source! There are some nice colour drawings of the War Griffon Titans in a White Dwarf, those are probably a good reference if you have them I think they included a good idea profile of the WarHound. I can have a look and identify which WD they were, otherwise I dare say a Google search will bring up copies of the pictures.

That's shaping out nicely, you're obviously quite nifty with the sculpting - a general hobby or just a, gaming one? Throughly enjoying watching this build come together. Thanks again for sharing it.

I've attached some snaps of the Armorcast one if they are of any use. I don't know how accurate they are to the EPIC version (mine Titans are packed away), anyhow might be of use. The large grid is 50mm, the small 5mm.

Thanks mate,

I see some details there I would have missed in the google pics. Great to see it up close. I think I will do one coil. I want to pay homage to the past but I’m more or less working from a few inspiring pics (jes goodwin and Mark gibbons) and my imagination.
I’m leaning heavily on the original EPIC sculpt because I like the more organic feel of it rather than the newer FW version.
I want to say I’m glad to have joined this group. Everyone here has been kind and supportive. I’m new to posting stuff so it’s been a great experience. Wild amount of hobby talent here!

More pics to come soon
