Village set buildings in 15mm

I needed a few buildings for a 15mm Wars of the Roses Game of "Lion Rampant" yesterday as the scenario featured a key village. So I took some scans of my old Blood on the Streets and Lichemaster cards to a print shop and had them printed at high quality in reduced 60% size onto coated paper.

It proved easier to cut off the fold tabs and butt join everything with superglue gel as the cereal box card I used for backing was (in scale terms) thicker than the card they were designed to be printed onto so the corners did not form perfect 90 deg angles.

Even today the artwork on these is as good as any card scenery on the market and far better than most, even the Wanted "Mona Lisa" posters work

They did start a post game discussion on the possibilities of Oldhammer as a 15mm project, has anyone tried that?

Excellent idea. Soooo cute. Awesome, they look great (as does the rest of the battle).

I was surprised and pleased how well they worked. I think you could probably get good results right down to 10mm scale (so 36-38% of true size) although at that size some of the balcony and porchway pieces would need careful reinforcing as they would be very thin. Fascinating modelling challenge.

On my 25mm versions I no longer bother rebuilding them from scratch, after doing them so many times, I decided there was an easier way and now I 3D all the beams and frames with balsa directly onto a paper print copy of the building glued to plain foamcore. The only things I build from scratch are the roof pieces.

I intend to get all the buildings done during the next year as part of my 1st Edition project, although I will almost certainly not bother recreating my Coaching Inn, but may look at doing something more imposing with the somewhat diddy Maisontaal.

mmm.. we have a number of 15mm players around here and not heard much from there right now...

and as I type these, there is even a call out to one of them ^_^
