VanLoon's Chaos

VanLoon

Vassal
After a few month with a lack of painting, I have started on what is to be a new army. Here is the first recruit to my new chaos force.

A loathsome troll wanders down from the hills, intent on fresh meat.

More to come soon!

Agreed! this is a wonderful model and an excellent paint job! Is he a citadel Troll? I don't recognize him.

I'm look forward to seeing more of your work!

Cheers,

Blue

Lovely, muted paint job. I do love those marauder trolls. Can we expect some more marauder goodness as the army progresses?

It is a marauder sculpt isn't it? Interesting...I've never really appreciated those troll sculpts but the can obviously look great when painted well as VanLoon has demonstrated here.

On the wants list they go! :)

Cheers,

Blue

Thanks, yes it's a Marauder troll that I undercoated over twenty years ago and thought I best get round to painting it!

A few more Marauder/Citadel troll to come.

By way of his two heads, the mighty Krog possesses (slightly) more intelligence than the average troll. By his cunning and strength, he bullies his brethren into servitude.

yup

Most of the maruder trolls are really nice models. Word of warning though, they have some of the most fragile ankles in all of warhammer. They are right up there with the old skaven gutter runners.

You haven't lived until you have to pin a troll foot to a troll leg the size of a paper clip.

Re: VanLoon's Chaos - new stuff 15/6

More trolls...

Two warriors of Slaanesh...

... seeking pain and pleasure!

The skin colors on your trolls are excellent. I would love to try that pale greenish hue + redish pinkish lips and pustules on my zombies. Would you mind sharing your technique?

Impressed by those models, they're a real lesson, neat flawless paintjobs with just a perfect "readability" and spot-on oldschool vibe. You set a standard. Thumbs up (all 4).

Thank you for the kind words!

Con-fusion - sure, my recipe is roughly as follows...

Each troll has a slightly different base coat, something greeny-brown, then each is layered with Foundry Rawhide Light. I wash it with GW Athonian Camoshade, then another coat of Rawhide Light. Then I highlight it up with GW Screaming Skull. The lips start with purple and the pustules red, then I add the Rawhide Light to highlight them too. Then I finish the whole thing off with another thinned down Athonian Camoshade wash to tie it all together.

Hope that is of some use!

Thank you Blue.

Something else I finished recently.

A monstrous Blue Dragon swoops from his mountain lair.
