the coffins and contents are great. The marbling on the statues is interesting, and done nicely as is the freehand on the dress.

thx, The Marbling is based a real tombstone. So hot tip for anyone doing Dio's or even single models with landscape or animal elements. Search internet images before you start and copy actual examples. Saves a lot of time and effort spent painting "test pieces"
Rest in Peace Heather
Out of curiosity when did you build it?
finished 5 weeks ago. Completed Orc Ambush and dove right into this one. Sadly i have not done much since, primered a small pre-made Vignette and here it sits on my table
as a small home-construction project in my basement wraps up. Hope to get back on it very soon as it heats up here. My most productive times used to be Winter, but since don't have those anymore, will likely switch modeling over scorching summers.
Very nice diorama, I'm a big fan of sliced through bits of terrain.
I'm glad you like it, never done a slice thru of of scene before so it was fun to experiment. I looked high and low for the proper headstones. Looked for one a wealthy merchant might raise for his wife, who is now in the clutches of the Wraith's right hand. Max Mini fit the bill, but i had to add the head from a plastic model of a female Gnome thief to show the vandalized grave.
for yet another "maybe I'll do it" project! ...
Just tell yourself , "I'm doing one or I'll be dammed" , or whatever it is you guys say over there as an ultimatum to yourself. I get tremendous pleasure from finishing one of these, and it makes me super happy, sometimes for as long as 24 hours before the real world creeps back int my psyche. Here is my most favorite to least favorite parts of these builds, obviously not in order.
1) Pulling any and all models i think you might need out of drawers and plopping them down on my bench. This lets you visit old friends you haven't seen in a while , sometimes models you bought years ago and even forgot you had
2) pull modes out of blister packs, assemble with pins, epoxy, etc. and have them come to life. The Chariot was a bear, sooo many complex
pieces.
3) start laying out the painted models on your terrain piece
4) build plinth from raw materials, hoping everything is where's it's supposed to be
5) set-up lights, camera, take pics, download, crop, re-size, etc.
6) STARTING the painting process, this one's the toughest for me, and i often tend to get stuck here
