Undead Corpse collector Diorama

this one's a little morbid, started bumming me out as i was making the coffins, but it's a pretty cool model from Gamezone in span. Chariot of the Harvester, Gamezone Miniatures 07-40 metal mode comes with Corpse Child model. other models include

metal
Tombstone of Sorrow, Reaper 03737 by Julie Guthrie
Coffin and Corpse - Reaper 03685 by Bob Olley
Bone Pack, Reaper 03537
plastic
Forgotten Tombstones - Max Mini resin - MMRSCE009
Coffin (wealthy Woman) - Max Mini Resin

remaining coffins, DIY from Popsicle sticks

Very nice diorama, I'm a big fan of sliced through bits of terrain - I think ultimately that must come from too much exposure to cut-away drawings in the Eagle as a youngster - the coffins and contents are great. The marbling on the statues is interesting, and done nicely as is the freehand on the dress.

Out of curiosity when did you build it?

You've also reminded me I was going to get some bits from MaxMini for yet another "maybe I'll do it" project! ...

thx, The Marbling is based a real tombstone. So hot tip for anyone doing Dio's or even single models with landscape or animal elements. Search internet images before you start and copy actual examples. Saves a lot of time and effort spent painting "test pieces"
Rest in Peace Heather

finished 5 weeks ago. Completed Orc Ambush and dove right into this one. Sadly i have not done much since, primered a small pre-made Vignette and here it sits on my table
as a small home-construction project in my basement wraps up. Hope to get back on it very soon as it heats up here. My most productive times used to be Winter, but since don't have those anymore, will likely switch modeling over scorching summers.

I'm glad you like it, never done a slice thru of of scene before so it was fun to experiment. I looked high and low for the proper headstones. Looked for one a wealthy merchant might raise for his wife, who is now in the clutches of the Wraith's right hand. Max Mini fit the bill, but i had to add the head from a plastic model of a female Gnome thief to show the vandalized grave.

for yet another "maybe I'll do it" project! ...
Just tell yourself , "I'm doing one or I'll be dammed" , or whatever it is you guys say over there as an ultimatum to yourself. I get tremendous pleasure from finishing one of these, and it makes me super happy, sometimes for as long as 24 hours before the real world creeps back int my psyche. Here is my most favorite to least favorite parts of these builds, obviously not in order.
1) Pulling any and all models i think you might need out of drawers and plopping them down on my bench. This lets you visit old friends you haven't seen in a while , sometimes models you bought years ago and even forgot you had
2) pull modes out of blister packs, assemble with pins, epoxy, etc. and have them come to life. The Chariot was a bear, sooo many complex
pieces.
3) start laying out the painted models on your terrain piece
4) build plinth from raw materials, hoping everything is where's it's supposed to be
5) set-up lights, camera, take pics, download, crop, re-size, etc.
6) STARTING the painting process, this one's the toughest for me, and i often tend to get stuck here

I should, for many years I'd been meaning to do a simple 3D dungeon bowl board copying the original tiles. However every time I've either been distracted and never really started and even this time my "I'll just do it simple" got mired in thoughts around doing pit traps and other things that would over complicate the build. So I think I will just keep it simple and use some embossed XPS I have for the walls and cast up some bulk tiles and not worry about 3D pit traps. Keep it simple and just get it done to perhaps use at next year's Entoyment event or BOYL perhaps!? I could do with a few hobby wins having done very little over the last few months!

I always liked those shown in White Dwarf, they really interested me when I was getting into the hobby, we did one for 2024 Legacy Crew.

this happens to me too, and when it does i have to decide how much does it add to my dio versus time/effort. A pit trap could be cool, but to really pull it off you would need height similar to this one i built. Approx. 67mm tall up from Wood plinth.

You wind up this large, bland vertical area that is just sitting there. I had just the 2 open graves, but realized it needs more elements so now we got the other coffins. Then i realize they needs Headstones too, so it can get away from you.
I ate too much ice cream to get the extra coffins

For you, the pit trap would by cool by itself , but i would do a rocky , rough-hewn sub-level all around, cut away, to show Ratlings, or Undead shambling around, Carrion Crawlers,or whatever. With a 2nd trap door or murky stairway going down into it from main level. Otherwise a shallow pit-trap would be confusing to look at

BTW, this model almost burned me but if you guys build this, the banners and wheels have to go on at same time as they interlock .The bent angle of the wheels is also cast into it.

14 parts to this for Donkey and cart , a lot of over-cast material needs to come off the chariot base where it meets the skull pile for good fit.

That's lovely. I have made some temporary corpse collection scenes for early campaign stories. Here's one ....
