Ultramarines

Very nice, the fine detailing is superb, congratulations on taking the old classics and expanding on them in the old style with very nice heraldry befitting Ultramarines.

All of this isn't helping me in deciding which chapter of Space Marines I shall work on. Crimson Fists, Dark Angels, Flesh Tearers - or Ultramarines?

Currently I'm doing Crimson Fists; Salamanders; Flesh Tearers; sisters of Battle; Iron Warriors and now Sons of Horus for 30k.... So as Suber says: do them all!!

. partly cartoony and partly dingy? I don't know how better to describe it, but for me that is the Rogue Trader look.

i agree totally. it's quite hard to do. at the moment i can do cartoony OR dingy, but not both at once!

More great additions. I recently picked up a big bag of models at a car boot sale that included 11 old plastic beakies, so I'm going to start building up my RT Marine force again; yours are very inspiring.

Some more reenforcements ;). I had these guys lost in a box for ages. Time to do some justice to them! Quite a speedpaint, didn't want to spent that much time (you'll see in a few days, these are not the only minis I've been painting!):

This last one was a little dull, no Crozius Arcanum whatsoever, so I added a banner.

This is how the badass guys in the Chapter look like when they go out for beers:

Some more stuff incoming soon!

These Ultra's look fantastic, love the colour palette you have used for the details

Keep up the good work!

Thank you!
The thing is that, when I opened the box in which I knew I had the Chaplains (and some Apothecaries and Techmarines which I haven't painted yet) I found more minis I didn't remember I had! :? I found a stash of Orks and Beakies (hooray!). So a sudden idea came to mind. What if my Chaplains had full squads of Field Police under their command? ;). I frenzied over the beakies and this is what I got:

I bought them long time ago and (shame on me) I had relegated them to a box. They have interesting conversions on a few bolters to make them look like flamers. I painted the tanks in green to suggest they actually are web guns (which may make sense if the Field Police Squad is trying to capture fugitives alive).
An example of a Squad:

The Field Police was never developed beyond the illustration in the RT book, as far as I know. In my mind it makes sense them being the law enforcers within the Chapter, the most gifted eventually becoming Chaplains themselves.

You can find them on the blog:

You will see them in action quite soon! ;)

Enforcing law with chainsword baionettes, power gloves and missile launchers, I love it. You do not want to cross the street outside zebras in the grim darkness of the grim dark future

(Excellent work again here Suber ;) )

Way cool Suber- great idea to turn them into field police.
I love how you've shoehorned a Space Crusade bolter in there too, really cool pose on that guy!

Thanks! Glad you like them. I'm thinking I should have done a couple of them with traffic signs, giving directions to Rhinos

Those Field Police look brilliant, I was thinking of painting a few for my own project but didn't know what I could use them for, however your idea regarding them being under the Chaplin's command is perfect. I'm not sure if I will get around to it myself but If I do and you don't mind I might just steal it! (giving proper credit for the idea of course)

Please! Be served! No credit needed, as I scarcely can take any!
I've used them in battle and they work fine, I encourage you to do so, they are interesting material for scenarios and add some colour to any Chapter :).

I had these guys pending, a couple of Apothecaries and Techmarines ;). I could have painted them blue with touches in white or red, but I really prefer the whole armour colour scheme:

As I enjoyed doing the Chaplain banner, I did another one for the Apothecary. A robed skeleton walking on ashes holding the Helix while he opens his robe with the other hand and shows a beating heart (I'm explaining so you understand what you are seeing  )

For the Techmarines I thought of making some backpacks with tentacles, servoarms and stuff, but I'm too lazy and they are a mess for storage. So nope.

The shoulderpad is the white hand, the emblem of both the Techmarines and the Uruk-Hai

I dared to do another banner. But these guys wouldn't like a robed skeleton, I needed another approach, some tech geek looking stuff...

Though I ike the concept, I'm not satisfied with the result. Being the first one I do, it's enough, but I may redo it...

Here are they all:

And here you have them on the blog:

Hmmm... Now I need a field hospital and a vehicle reparation bay...

Top notch stuff! I love the posing on the Field Police, the way you've angled the heads makes them look hyper-vigilant, on the lookout for wrongdoers while also hopped up on Combat Drugs, I imagine.

The Techmarine's banner is the business, awesome idea that I wish I had thought of!

Really great stuff love the banners. The circuit board works really well with the U symbol of the Ultramarines.
