Toys in the attic

Vassal
Hi all,
motivated by my introduction in this circle of lead connoisseurs I will show some old work of mine I recently retrieved from my attic. maybe in tgf next month we can see, if I can go back to my painting standard of old.

A skellie horse archer conversion I did made out of the Skeleton Army Box for a little convention in the early 90s.

My last big mini, a 3rd ed. Unclean One. I tried artists oil on acrylic base. A technique I learned from more earnest figure modellers (those who perform at Euro Militaire or else). It can work nice on monster sizes, but I wasn't successful on humanoid size minis.

Some more. Didn't realised a phone cam can make amazing pics of minis.

The skin of the Minotaur Lord was also done with oil colour with acrylic base.

edit: exchanged pics in smaller res.

That axe wielding minotaur is one a set of two made by Marauder. I like them, but they are considerable smaller than the citadel minotaur lords. nearly looks lost on that 40 mm monster base.

in a 1990 catalogue they offered an older minotaur range with tabs, so they came w/ 25 mm bases. in the same catalogue the 6 minotaur lords with stubs under their feet were shipped w/ 40mm bases. Tiny Marauder Minos had stubs and 40 mm bases.
But it seems that in same cases Marauder went against scale creep with these minos and chaos steeds and goblin's wolves. especially the chaos steeds where a good tad smaller then the citadel ones.

Some more stuff. probably too close made pictures which can reveal some imprecise brush strokes. But I like the more personal perspective of individual minis.
I see I'm a bit lazy finishing shields.

Very nice, particular highlights for me would be that chaos shield, the blue on the minotaurs eyes and the blue Nurgling - I realised most of the way through mine that I should do some colours other than green/brown.

More classics! Is that a converted chaos steed?
Yes, this is actually the first, to big, plastic horse GW made. They offered sets of 4 chaos warriors on those horses in these hard plastic blisters. Since in my shop I never found the single ch. warriors on lead ch. steed, I had to make my own using Tamiya putty (no green stuff or else available here).
I remember fielding a unit of 8 ch. warriors on steeds for 900 points in a game. fell prey to a man mangler direct hit in the first round. I then invested my painting effort more in foot rank and file.
