I think it's right enough time to do this again.

The Woods in the Woods is Oakbound's game day for their old style skirmish game 'The Woods'. It takes place out in the open in the Wild Woodland Celebrations, West Rugger’s Green, Gloucestershire. Very small and low-key really, Free to attend but book tickets to keep a track of numbers etc.

The date have been set for this year but I believe will be officially published later Salute has been over and done with So I won't state it until officially stated, though it's probably fine to do.

This year has the big release of Shivershield, the new name for the 3ed Skirmish rules so when that is released mid April you can grab a starter set to get what you need to get you into the game in one place.

Never you fear. I'm even told there's been some work done on the dodgy track! And no harm in announcing the date, it's going in April's Acorn anyway. It's July 4th.

This month's Acorn newsletter mentioned the Shivershield tokens being added to the Oakbound webstore today. I'm very keen to pick up a copy of the rulebook, but don't want to have to get the tokens separately.
@Fimm McCool - I know the weekend's not over yet, but are those tokens definitely going up? (to save me continually checking ).

I would recommend the starter set cause you get the book, all the tokens and some nice figures (20 metal minis)

that reminds me... shivershield kinda requires a bit more table space. not a lot but... gonna be interesting ^_^

My boot will take an 1100 wide sheet , that should give enough space around the edges of a 900x900 board.

2 Week countdown and my final post (before event) on my warband is up.

And I'm well aware of how badly my warband will probably perform ^_^ Picked for fun more then performance. Which, of course, is the better way.

It's always fun to play with sub-optimum builds though. I like the idea of a couple of priests who've lost most of their party in the course of a raid trying to struggle home with their captives and whatever shellycoats they can summon along the way.

Mike Peters is coming as an 'official' press photographer to take some shots this year as well. He did in 2024 and they ended up in Wargames Illustrated.

Really sorry to miss it this year - it's generally one of the highlights of my year and the walk up from Nailsworth has become a bit of an annual ritual! Hopefully next year...
