The Wolf Time?

Hi guys,

I've been rereading the scenario, just double checking the minis I still require to run the scenario. But I got a bit puzzled by the Ork unit dispositions. I was wondering if anyone who has played it could clarify my query?

Which is,

The force size for the Orks is as follows;
5 x Ork Scumbo units of five
3 x Ork warrior units of five
2 x Ork guards units of five.

Now here's the problem, the Scumbo & warrior units check out fine in the disposition section (P27), but the wording for the guards has me a bit confused. Is there five individual guards in the upper level & five in the lower level? Or is there five in the upper and thirteen in the lower? Because in the lower section it lists then as "guard units" & individual guards....two units + three individuals.

I know it's probably it's most likely supposed to be five individuals, but the "two units" are in locations that you'd think there would be a large congregation of soldiers i.e. the barracks & Gladiator pit with Kulo.

Any help would be much appreciated :)
 
I think there are definitely 18 guards altogether. 8 individual guards plus 2 units of 5 guards each.

The unit box bit for the guards (page 28) says "There are an additional 8 individual guards posted throughout the castle (armed as ordinary Guards)"

So 5 individuals on upper level
3 individuals and 2 units of 5 = 13 on lower level.
 
Thanks for clearing that up Scalene, I missed reading that little bit of extra info in the unit box.

But damn! That's quite a lot of powered armoured orks isn't it!? No wonder why this scenario wasn't run much back in the day, with the "proper" compliment of miniatures. GW had only released eight PA ork mini's at that stage.....and only added to that much much later.

I was hoping I'd only need 10 of them to run the game :( But I suppose, in the game, the first five will have already have been taken care of before the SMs' head down though. So, that's them out of the way, free'd up for use on the lower level.

It "may" transpire throughout the game that I'd practically only need five PA orks to run it anyway. By the time the SM player has killed off a few and moved on I can reuse the dead orks in the next rooms.....I hope ;)

Just had another look at what you wrote,

What do you think is meant by the term "armed as ordinary guards"? Same stats, but no PA? Just normal flak & boltgun?
