The miniature picture / fact you're obsessed with.

There's 8 years between one model and the other, and the books say Trish sculpted both, but this comparative sums up perfectly my feelings about the whole hobby /GW look.

The one on the left is one of my favorite models ever (maybe top 5, definitely top 10). The one on the right... I like it, and I prefer it to any other later iteration of the hounds (I've got a lot and I've converted some like Sebastian did here and here to look like goblin wolf mounts), but side by side, I don't like it at all. It's a strange feeling I can't explain, and it's living rent free in my head for years.

Is there any image that comes to your mind again and again when reflecting on your collection?

My bugbear would be the iterations of Orcs throughout the 80s that was extremely varied. Add in Citadel vs Marauder vs Iron Claw and you had enough variations in style, height and physique to drive a regimented army builder collecting one or two Orcs at a time quite mad!

That said, it is the very same variations that provide such character and attraction to the ranges that 4th Edition and the 90s would quickly erase.

I love all* the 80s Orc miniatures of course and tend to build regiments by grouping same style figures together.

*Pre-slotta Orcs are excluded, I don't much like odd cone heads or the oversized tusked heads.

A little follow-up on this:

The one with the scorpion tale is almost ready (but I've got to travel for work and won't be here until the end of Orktober (and maybe miss that challenge too). Thanks to @pahvivalmiste for selling me this good boi.
