The City of Altheim (Warehouses P3!)

Not a huge amount to report on recently, but I have made some progress on actually painting the main board:

Once I've got this finished I'll move on to the dock area, then I can lay down the resin water in the river/sewer and the dock itself.

The river is a real nice detail, gives some good character. Will the city have any nice dark dingy alleyways?

All the buildings will be modular and moveable, so the gaps between them that aren't facing the roads will effectively be alleyways.

That’s a fair sized piece of real estate. What is it, 8’ x 4’? Also, how wide’s your waterway?

Great project and execution, BTW.

Thanks! With the river front dock water it'll be just under 8'x4'. The roads are 4" wide and the drainage channel is nominally 2". I wanted it to act as a trench to allow some extra movement in Mordheim games to limit choke points on a heavy terrain board.

Good idea and narrow enough to jump across. Ideal for those comedy moments when players unexpectedly fail initiative tests.

As german native speaker the empire fantasy names sound ever so funny.
My favorite so far ( from WHFRP ) is Manfred "Kugelschreiber" (Ballpen) .

That's my intention, I speak (almost) passable German, most of my names are purposefully awful transliterations into pidgin-German to emulate the comedy names from the original WFB/WFRP.

It seems there's a relationship with the AHQ character "Rutger von Bleistift" (Rutger of pencil). ^^

I like the Warhammer Armies section "The Empire", as the pseudo-German goes wild.

⏲ Please note there was roughly a 5 year gap between these posts ...

⚠ Please note that until the post above this thread had been inactive for about 5 years ...

One bump I can't object to looking at again! I think the little shanty house and bookshop were perhaps my favourites, but really as each of the houses on the street came together it was amazing stuff. Really stunning scratch builds.

This is stunning! I can just imagine rocking up to the blacksmith and selling him 30 ebony bows and a fistful of precious gems.

I'd forgotten about this thread, but seeing as it was bumped, here's another couple of buildings!
First up, the Becker Import Company warehouse:

This one's the now abandoned Becker Import Company building, left to dereliction after being sealed up on the orders of the guard due to irregularities with the quality of fish. Or just Old Man Becker not paying enough in bribes, who knows!

and next up, another warehouse (I've been working on the Docks area!)

Another warehouse finished, this time owned by the famous merchant, Avon Limmarra. The Elven Limmarra's main residence and business interests are in The Riding, but they've recently expanded into Altheim, hoping to increase their riches.

Avon Limmarra was an Elven trader, one of the characters from "The Riding", a scenario booklet that came with the "Blood on the Streets" cardboard buildings pack for 2nd Edition WFB. Unfortunately the figure is bloody terrible with a head like a balloon, so I apologise for that.
