Star Wars Miniatures

Since mid-December, I've suspended painting Citadel minis (damn hard-to-find Gothic Horror miniatures!) and taken up with Fantasy Flight's new Star Wars skirmish game, Imperial Assault. Here are my favourite photographs so far...

As usual, I have loads of additional pictures up at http://www.oldenhammer.com

Thanks for looking!

Stellar ! (see what I did here) your choice of clean and highly contrasted colours really works to give that cold vibe you have in the movies. Really good work here.

The depth of field on the Bossk (lizardmen / IG) really works for that shot. they look great.

Not keen on the vader pose, but the paintwork on the saber is uber.

I just had a miniature epiphany- I had those little micro Star Wars sets as a kid (Cloud City and Hoth) with the pre painted metal figures and those would be my first minis.
I'm sure I still have one of the Vaders somewhere...

Absolutely great. I was trying to avoid the temptation of purchasing the game, but now I know that's not possible!

Just remember it's Fantasy Flight...
But at least they got the miniatures right. Might have to be getting some for Rogue Tradering. The Corellian Corvette troopers look pretty nice. And the boards could be a nice addition to Space Hulk. If only the jigsaw pieces were compatible!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
I never thought of using the tiles from Imperial Assault for Space Hulk. That is a fantastic idea! (They are, incidentally, very impressive tiles).
I've only played a few sessions of Imperial Assault so far. My reviews of the game-play are mixed. I like the basics of the system (it's essentially the same as the fantasy game Descent, which I really enjoy as an updated form of Advanced Heroquest). But there are a million-zillion cards, which makes the actual game-play a little fiddly. Also, the map set-ups can be quite cramped and small -- a lot of the time the rebels and the storm troopers stand next to each other blasting away at point blank range -- not the most tactically interesting experience.
But whatever -- ITS STAR WARS.
