Skeletons

Hi guys,
Had a look through some of the newer painting guides and can’t seem to find a way to get the skeletons painted like in the 3rd edition warhammer books. They had this very white bone colour look.

Does anyone have any pointers? They seem to use more white / bone color than the newer painting guides.

Would the first colour be something like skull white then a black wash over that to get into the cracks? Then the highlights/shading?

Thanks,

If you want a really 'clean' white, then start with a light bone colour, drybrush up to white on the highlights, and then paint black ink into the crevices with a very fine brush, gives a better result than than doing a black wash over the lot and cleaning up afterwards. .

ok. thanks for the pointers. I'll give it a try. I guess once "white", I can "dirty" them a little if need be.

A very thin sepia/brown wash over the white can give them more of a bone colour back, and obviously won't affect the blacklining.
