Skeleton banner topper?

well, this is a bit embarrassing for some reason. I'm kinda doing a simple/slow minor project for some skeletons and I have a standard bearer with a not fantastic but it'll do the job well standard. I got a rough idea for the banner itself in mind but I really think it keeps a topper to the wire pole.

Then it occurred to me that I know bugger all about the undead in Warhammer.. Oh I know some basic stuff and all.. and I know at some point GW seamed to think the undead were highly under detailed and split the vampires off into there own thing and the skeletons then got all the Egyptian stuff which never made sense to me for ALL skeletons to be foreign ones like that.. but short of just ones that are still using some of their old gear (which also bugs me.. most Skeletons and re-animated undead are Human... a couple of companies do make the odd Goblin and Dwarf but.. why are non-humans underused? you think someone wouldn't like Skaven Undead? Elf are probebly pretty much the same as Human on a skeleton front when miniatures but Firmir? Chaos? Halflings? Zoat if you wanna get rarer? I think I got a OSM Skeleton Ogre.. Slann? I'm sure the Lichmaster would love to have some Slann Mages in his undead Army.)

anyway.. so I occurred to me.. what WOULD skeletons have as a banner topper? I got fair number of bits which might look good but... one reason I can be slow painting and doing somethings is ... I'll politely say "Too many ideas, don't know which one to use" more then being rubbish at deciding things. Suggestions on a postcard?

Hey Manic, for our next thang one of the battles is undead v Brett's - the undead are 'wronged' Bretts and have their colours n styles. Maybe you can story sumfink that makes them more regional/cultural and nick a bit of that?

BTW magic standards in 3E (Esp magic pt 'storage' types) are sooper useful for dedduns to stop instability and summon more... not ure what roolz you're doing?

Whatever they were waving when they were killed? I don't know about you, but the thought of the undead having an industry knocking out banners, helmets, armour and shields for the troops always seemed very odd to me.

Wights et al. are different as they're likely to have been buried with their gear, but even if your skeletons are terracotta army style geezers, what are the chances that their original gear was festooned with skulls, egg timers & bat wings?

Same, this is why my undead have remnants of banners, uniforms, shields etc all in various states of decay from when they were alive.

No offense to anyone which I know use it or sell on it, but I don't buy on Etsy.. specially miniature related stuff cause ... sigh.. there are SOO many sellers which are stilling STL files they just downloaded for free from thingiverse, or selling prints of STL without permission and against the wishes of the STL creators. There are also TONS of recasters who are bootleging figures (like the 'oh, lets take the plastic Heroquest figures and cast them in metal for no bloody reason then to screw people out of money'). I have no energy to spend the time it sometimes takes to make sure a place that has more bootleg and stolen content then a man around the back of a pub to make sure its safe. Etsy has been a bad place for a long time and in the last year.. whoa, it's blown up about how much they are trying to protect there name more then dealing with cracking down on stuff.. eBay is far safer and that has it's fair share of bootlegging and stealing.

I'm not saying that company/group does that, just I don't have the energy it takes to double check soo much and I like to know what I'm buying. I have brought some bootleg toys KNOWING they are bootleg and paying the cheaper price because of that, which I'm fine with (we are talking about toys from the 80s which have never been re-issued, known for the originals braking due to age and other reasons) but If I buy such thing, I want to KNOW I'm doing that, more then one from pretending and lying like crazy.

Anyway ^_^; Gibbets, depending on the type, aren't too hard to source of just make. though there are soo many variations and types..
