Skaven Collectors guide?

I support the flesh face skaven. it's one of the ways to brighten what can be a very dingy looking army.

Never said it was wrong, just that you won't see me doing it ...

re- the color thing. imho - you can make them as colorful or not. Just cos they are rat-men don't mean that they must wear browns/greens/greys (yet another games workshop paining peeve)
These guys are part of my (WiP) Necromunda gang. Have a gander. (yes I know this isnt the WiP thread, don't flay me...)

I like the grey one a lot. Might have to steal that.

the brown rat is a tough scheme to work with IMO.

And I agree that greens and browns aren't the only skaven colors. It's just tough to make any army pop and stand out when a lot of brown is involved. It can be done but it's tricky.

Ah but you forget Skaven are rat men. Rat for sure but also men, are they mutated rats or mutated men? Crossbreeds? A mix of both?

Anyway humans, men are chimps no two ways about it, the genetics tells all. We certainly do have flesh colored mouths and ears. Skaven are not sculpted hairy in these places so it is reasonable to assume the stable rat/human mix that is the skaven follows it's human ancestry in this respect. Why not?

Fair call that - but why's it gotta be Caucasian flesh all the time?

It would make more sense that the fur color is indicative of the skin color below. Look at the skin of a shaved dalmatian or baby Tassie Devil.
Black skin where there is black fur, white/pink skin with light/white fur.

I could keep speculating about the genetic makeup of a hypothetical rat-human hybrid but in the end its however you like to paint em. No right or wrong . ^_^

I supose they are mixed with white caucasian because the old world is a pseudo-Europe. Like you say paint them how you like.
