Agreed, the advantage of scratchbuilding your own is exactly total control over those details.Might have considered buying some if they didn't have skulls all over. I know the Empire is meant to be religious and obsessed with death but too much is just too much. In general I do prefer home-made terrain over something ready to paint. Even if results don't look as sharp and good the process of creating them makes them way more endearing.

I was talking about my own PoV and didn't mean to knock anyone who buys ready-made terrain.I do understand, though, if someone buys such buildings, because scratch-building them to such detail is quite time consuming. If that is worth the called for prices... matter of personal view.

But what I never understood is the hills, for example. For £26, I can't even imagine how many I could scratchbuild for that amount. And that IS an easy task. Some MDF/ePVC/cardboard for a base, foam for the hill body, and then decorate like your mini bases (sand, flock, grass tufts etc.).
I can't imagine ever buying such kind of most basic terrain.
