Like a WW2 tank Zimmerit coating... It certainly has textureThis blast from the past needed some sanding. It has no less than three different colours under that coat of thunderhawk.
Yep, I usually use wire. I’m interested to know how you use styrene for the fix?Good stuff. There is something wonderfully satisfying about rebuilding the grab rails out of styrene rod and the broken smoke stacks likewise (although there will no doubt be STLs around these days). Are you going to attempt to re-hinge the las-guns?
I’ve just given it a light sanding. I might be weird but I like the thought of other peoples paint jobs laying dormant under there. It’s like an archaeological testament to its past. It’s going to be spacewolves so the undercoat of thunderhawk blue is oddly fitting.Like a WW2 tank Zimmerit coating... It certainly has texture![]()
Just thin-ish styrene rod and bend it as appropriate. A little friction is enough to soften it to bend comfortably. So no different from doing it with wire, except I guess it's marginally easier for me to plastic-weld the braces on that go to the tank sides. I'd cut a little notch in that short support and let the glue melt it enough to blend nicely. Not that it's very clear, but here are a couple of mine: https://forum.oldhammer.org/threads/the-age-of-the-imperium.25715/post-113551 I think the totally new one (grab rail) is the tank with the gunner and on his side.Yep, I usually use wire. What he said…Damn as first licks go that's pretty fine! She'll be a beaut.
