Rogue Trader Fauna? Interest?

I'm out of curiosity...will you guys like to have some minis of some of the creatures described on the Rogue Trader book? Even some alien plants?
Like some of those just to show some :

Re: Rogue Frader Fauna? Interest?

I have been working on a Deathworld Flora and Fauna project on and off for the last six months or so. The thread is HERE and my blog list on progress is HERE. I have covered a decent number of the various creatures from the RT book, with more in the pipeline, so if you are looking for something to start with then you could do worse than look at that.

An affordable version of an Ambull is top of the list of RT monsters that I want. Its basically a D&D Umber Hulk, but the fact that it is one of the very few RT monsters that was actually manufactured it is desirable, to me at least. They go for a high price on Ebay too, so a suitable proxy would be great

A grox would be nice, but as I expect that most players would want to have a herd of grox, Im not sure if it would be worthwhile manufacturing them. I can easily imagine spending a few $$$ on a single ambull but I wouldnt bother with a single grox and a herd of grox would cost too much.

If I were you Obscure Creator I would avoid some of the easily substituted creatures too (Enslavers, Ferro Beasts, Giant Insects or Spiders, Dinosaurs, Vampires, Crotalids etc). As those creatures were based on easily available creature models/toys that the designers already had in their collections in the 1980s, there are very many of those sorts of things available from many sources if people want them. They are not unique enough in my opinion.

Bouncers and sand clams and the like are simple to make, so personally I probably wouldnt buy them unless they were truly exceptional looking models.

For me the Ambull , Catachan Devil and those Bear/yety like creatures on the pics are the most desirable to do :)

Re: Rogue Frader Fauna? Interest?

Great idea but can we have the minotaurs and "moray men" first...please... ;)

Or do you need to make a number of greens first for casting for it to be financially viable?

Re: Rogue Frader Fauna? Interest?

Don't worry , the Minotaur , Piscean /Moray and the Fimirs will be ready about this coming week.

Then the Zoat and more minos , then lets see ...

Those first yes.

I agree with Steve, I 'd rather have variant minos first to get a unit of 3 for the first purchase. I know you may be tired of minos right now but if I want to buy minos I'd rather by the lot in once (same fo rthe zoats for example). That's just my 2 cents about it though.
You seem to be a rapid sculptor so maybe the issue is not even here...

Sadly the first Mino will need to be purchased alone , let me explain , as I will use its base for the variants , I need to earn some money first by selling that first model to be able to pay for production.
Pay production costs for every miniature and then trying to sell all at once will be costly , and risky  I hope you guys understand me.
Basically I need to sell first to keep on track.

Correction : By saying "purchased" alone , I mean no other minos , but the Piscean warrior , Space Minotaur ,Dirach and Fimir Warlord will be released at a time , so those interested can keep buying models together.

Definitely! Most definitely!

The carnivorous sand-clams are a favorite of mine. I've gathered together a few shell fossils that are about the right size to use. Probably the easiest thing in the book to come up with though so probably low on the list.

Catachan face-eaters could be interesting... they look like what? Towels? Also ptera-squirrels. Gotta have ptera-squirrels... and rippy fish.

And... did I hear you're doing zoats? Would be very much interested in those when they're out!

Good call on those two. I have had trouble trying to find suitable proxies for those two.

Enslavers anyone ?... pleeeeaaase

Enslavers = D&D Beholders. There are plenty of miniatures around suitable for use as Beholders, for example:

Personally, I would rather get my hands on things that are unique to the 40k universe that dont immediately have obvious proxies available, like zoats, ptera-squirrels, rippyfish etc. But if OC wants to sculpt Enslavers, its not like I am going to stop him :)

Damn ! It's the second time you're right today ! OK, no enslavers then...

Totally understand that logic. Keep the focus narrow to begin with. I would say that the Fishman would be a better seller to be honest if you want to just produce one to begin with.
