Rogue Trader 1.5? Crunchy Time

My youthful self loved the targeting on vehicles. Anything with an acetate overlay does it for me :) I loved drawing out my own cross sections for scratch built tanks and so forth.

I think probably a good proportion of our games were actually with the battle & vehicle manuals. I'm not sure if I'd just stick to pure RT for games now if only to reduce the trawling through rulebooks! Might have to go and flick through my copies I seem to recall the Battle Manual tidied up ranged weapon stats and did re-work close combat, but I don't quite remember what the changes actually were.
 
^Now now. The thing came out when I was in college. You're just not that old . . . yet. ;)

And a nice red warbuggy can help with that midlife crisis. (It's so much more fun to drive around without a roof. But I'm not quite ready to put spikes on the Miata. Yet.)

Anyway, I still use the Vehcile Manual sometimes, although mostly with a quick numbering scheme penciled in so you can just roll a die to figure out what you hit. (It's not a perfect recreation of the acetate, but it's so very much faster. Kind of a middle ground between original RT and RT 1.5.)
 
A minor observation: I've long disliked the GW sponson gun fetish. I've been tempted for a while now to yank them off most of my models and replace them with something more sensible, like an anti-tank guided missile system. But looking at that vehicle manual, they thought they had sponson gunners in those things! How in the heck would that be a crew serviced weapon? More and more I'm inclined to think Preadator should be an IFV rather than a tank. Even in-game, the "autocannon" is really an anti-infantry weapon, and the thing just really doesn't have much armor. Just enough to shrug off small arms. So . . . get rid of the sponsons, give it a missile system, and give it a transport capacity of six or eight infantry: not quite a Rhino, but still dangerous. And unlike the Rhino it gives useful support. Voila. That's why the spesh maroons have them.
