Rescued some Space Marines!

Mike McVey did Lemartes, if memory serves. I recall that sculpt attracting much internet opprobium. Possibly just because Mike McVey is not Jes Goodwin. I quite like it. There's nothing else in the range that looks like it.

I got these guys from eBay.
Just got them stripped.
A captain, a librarian, and Chaplain Lemartes they will be joining my 2nd hand 2nd/3rd edition Blood Angels army I picked up.
Very cool minis! I too am doing Blood Angels for 2nd.

I like Lemartes, and I think that Captain and Librarian are among the best 40K/RT minis.

Any suggestions what to with this guy.
It's the worst mis cast I've ever seen.

Looks like a recast. I would have to check with someone like @Fimm McCool but that top surface... doesn't look like what I would expect if it was spin-cast, but more a home drop-forge cast. But I'm not 100% sure as I've never seen bad spin-casts THAT bad.

personally? putty up the shoulders and add a head if you wanna use it ^_^

He's original from the early 2000s. My friend that I got the army from didn't buy anything on eBay back then. We got all our 40K stuff from Pasttime Hobbies in Port Huron, MI

Potentially. Though the rest of the metal does look pitted. If it were drop cast I would expect to see where a big channel had been cut off the tab. If it were spun I don't see how a bubble like that would have got trapped.

I normally has a fairly small channel for the plug (what I refer it to) where I pour the metal for it to drain down. well.. kinda big I guess.. paper clip size (I just took a chunk of multi-put where I stuck part of a paperclip in it. I then just tack it with a bit of superglue to the model when I make the mould ^_^)

I was thinking he was spun feet out and head in towards the center. It just didn't get enough metal in the mold. Leaving the funky lip.

Yikes! I do have 2 suggestions. He could be converted into a casualty, or maybe use Green Stuff or similar to make like a cloak or cape with a cowl around the shoulders and use a plastic Scout or Sergeant head.
Cool ideas. If you're feeling suitably gory you could take the casualty idea and pop a skull on top and tweak the crater to be blast damage from some weapon that has left just a scorched skull ...

Fascinating miss-cast however, I'd have guessed a recast at first just like Manic, and as like Fimm says I can't imagine an air bubble that large getting trapped in a spin cast like that. Too little metal doesn't tend to end up like that given the spinning. Very interesting. I feel there should be a good head and shoulders joke in here somewhere ... anyone?
