Quick BOYL question

Hi all, never bin before, just looked at booking, but it looks like booking tables?
I fancy just coming along and trying to meet some peeps I've met on the forum and couple that with sightseeing and seeing some old LARP buddies
Can I just rock up?
I know this isn't the BOYL official site, but thought you guys may know better

"BOYL IS COMPLETELY FREE

That's right. There is no entrance or booking fee at all.

Foundry have generously allowed us to use their premises at no cost whatsoever, and as a result, there is no cost to you. This is the reason that BOYL is different to a normal wargames event:

It means you’re not a customer – you’re a guest of Foundry and the Ansell family. And that changes everything – you’re not entitled to a table, or a game, or an event miniature, or anything like that. Of course, you’ll be able to get all that stuff*, but as a gift from Foundry, or a kind oldhammerer, or by sheer happenstance – not because you’re a customer. Please remember this and act with grace, kindness and humility as a result."

I don't go (yet) as the distance.. even though I have gone some distance.. but going north of London is a whole different issue.. but as I believe and what it basically says, turn up and have fun. But I'll point out the one major rule.. No trading on site. Foundry being a shop and all. If you want to trade figures, just out outside or the pub, then go back in ^_^

Thanks Manic this was helpful

I think a lot of folks just rock up to soak up the atmosphere first time (I certainly did) and join in a game that may be open, but you get more out of joining one of the open game tables and preparing some minis for the event.
There are a few threads on here (and no doubt on FB groups) organising tables and offering places on their games (most recently https://forum.oldhammer.org/threads/boyl-2025-participation-game-the-siege-of-praag.39007/).
There are also usually a few small round tables in the courtyard which folks have used to play fringe games not via the booking system.
If you have not been to Wargames Foundary before you will have great time looking at the display cabinets and racks of minis. There will be a painting competition too if you fancy a go.
Hope this helps!

Totally cool to just rock up and enjoy the general buzz. I'm going to mostly be doing that I think!

I was wondering about throwing a copy of Chaos Marauders in my bag if anyone fancies an ad-hoc game!

i'm going for the first time this year and am hoping to blag my way into some games, including the siege of praag. i'll be bringing a little wfb2 setup with me in the hopes i can find a corner. i think i've persuaded @Brother Meredith and @symphonicpoet to play, but will happily run another session if people are interested.

I will absolutely always join up with any open things going if I'm not busy with something I've signed up for... So if you do end up running another session of 2nd ed on the day, I'm sure I'll try and barge my way in!

Not being on Facebook I'm not booked in for anything and I gather most of the games are organised over there. Partially my own fault for so far failing to find time to finish some booking software! Anyhow sounds rather like you've already got the game sorted, but I'd be quite interested in trying WFB2 never having done it before, but I doubt I could lug much in the way of minis up. I've got some goblinoids painted so could perhaps bring some of those if there was still any space? I'm currently thinking maybe I'll come up later on Friday and try to get all of Saturday at BOYL.

it's a two player gm'd scenario for which i am providing everything. the only problem is i don't have a table, so it relies on finding a bit of space somewhere.
so far you're the fourth person to express an interest, so hopefully I'll be able to run a couple of sessions.
I won:t be able to get down in time for the friday, so it will be saturday or sunday depending on people's availability.
perhaps best if we exchange mobile 'phone numbers via pm and coordinate on the day(s).

as i've now got four people expressing an interest, i should be able to run two sessions, so long as i can find a corner to set up.
