Power weapon help

Looking for help/inspiration with painting power weapons. Have Ragni Beretta to paint (squat with power axe) and I've never really painted one before but as he will be the officer for my little squat band I want him to stand out.

This was how I did my Terminators a few years ago:

Thought the green would contrast nicely and might look a bit marble like. As you can see close up they are quite rough (Yikes never look at your own work too closely!), but from a distance I think they look quite acceptable.

The line highlights are probably a bit stronger "in the lead", they have got a bit washed out just now under my painting lamp I think.

Pretty sure we had some amazing "lava" weapons on here not that long ago now ... not that I expect the mediocre search will let me find them now - hopefully someone else will remember the thread.
