Orks, Orks and moar Orks (new Orks on p8)

The trading standards agency better be ready to start arguing with a space dorf and a whole bunch of rowdy orks. I reckon they should bring some sort of weaponry. Oh, and armor. Definitely armor.

Time to get some more orks done; unfortunately, they have been languishing somewhat as of late. Well, no more!
The Deathskulls keep arriving:

Here's a lovely Runtherd with a gun he happened to find somewhere and secured to a carriage that was just standnig around someplace.
The oiler grot from the gun crew is the third model in the force that's not a Kev Adams sculpt but this particular Perry grot comes with a soft spot for it.

Next up, a Deathskull painboy with the coolest and most overpowered option available on the Biono Bits table - the fabled stink-squig attack arm.
Also, a leader for the Deathskull mob sporting a pair of modern rokkit pistols.

Tried to snap a pic of the fiddly bits. Can you tell I'm running out of ork arms?

Gotta Paint Em All!!
Haha, I see what you did there.
Odd, while I was building the painboy I realized that while his arm is pretty 'readable' today, in '91 it would just have been an strangely unfitting colour scheme.

As to literally paintning them all, would that I could but I'll paint what I got.
63 Goffs and 19 each of the Bad Moons, Deathskulls and Evil Sunz aaand a bunch of oddments which will eventually bring the entire collection to a nice round 140 models. It's all mapped out except for the last three. Painted 101 of 140.

Is it a squig? It looks like Krang from TMNT
Ha, I'll take that as a compliment, kind sir!
Yup, it's meant to be a squig; I was going for a larger, more menacing version of the same kind of squig currently perched on top of his head. As to why there is a squig on his head, ManicMan, excellent connoisseur of the fine points of squig-lore has already pointed that out.
Going for different eye designs on the two squigs does ruin the intended effect, I fear. I sculpted some small round googly eyes on the big squig but of course I had to smush and smosh them up so they ended up growing ever larger.
The entire conversion is based on the best result a Painboy can roll up on the Bionik Bitz table:

A roll on that table, desgined to give the painboy a random weapon at 5pts, also has a 2% chance of kitting him out with this .

^I have someone's early 90s version of this buried in a box of bits and pieces. One of these days I ought to pull him out and clean him up. (The original artist was long on dreams, but still short on skill like so many of us were when we started out, but apparently ran out of dreams before getting the skill, or he probably wouldn't have sold the box to me.)

Anyway, yes! Great conversion. :) And a nice use of shoulder pads!

Man, that is such an apt description of circumstances. I might be in a happy place right now simply because my skills can finally keep up with the dream and I can make it come true in a satisfying way.

I got to take part in some very fun scenario games of modern Necromunda, using the orks to represent gangers of house Goliath. It's been so much fun that I've added a special Necromunda-only addition to the warhorde:

It's a Zerker, a steroid-addled and mutation-riddled pile of muscle and domestic violence. They get goaded into battle by some nerf-herder or brute-wrangler that's just a Runtherd by another name.
Story-wise I think Feegit the Painboy just couldn't stop fidgeting with orky steroids and mutagens derived from desert plants he "explored" somewhere after his first success with his personal Frankenork. On the battlefield, the zerker could be a tinboy alternative. Can you spot the parts that Feegit put together?

Zerker looks great. The whole body is from the minotaur lord I think (except for the boots and claw and maybe the right arm although i think the bracers have been green stuffed into muscles ) which all feels a little sacrilegious!
And good lord those Daemonette claws were massive if you're right!

Ha, well done all!
It's indeed a Mino lord torso with a Morrison Daemonette claw. They're ginormous and utterly brilliant, highly recommended claws, diese gut.
As to the mino torso, that's one of the oldest parts I have. Ordered it way back when via mail order with a 'brilliant' conversion of a multi-limbed Nurgle demon in mind. Schoolboy me couldn't ever get that done - still 'learning the spells' as @symphonicpoet so aptly put it - and that mino body ended up in the bits box. Eventually I used the arm in another conversion, then the legs in yet another and now finally the rest of that ol' mino has come back to life. The legs are from a BB blocker and the head is from one of the early Brian Nelson Big 'Un orcs that turned out to be the end of the quirky and adorable ork look once and for all.
