Orctober has arrived!

Lots of goodness here. I’m particular loving those half orcs that Golgfag’s been pumping out - much underrated miniatures and lovely paint jobs.

Here's my offering so far. A Ruguld's orc I did for the Middlehammer legacy project in honour of Mikael Igge Holmberg which is why he has an orange and green shield. I had to do a back story for him so here it is.

He is Gargnuts Oddbit.,so named for his habit of picking up any bit of spare armour he can lay his hands on. After a particular near death experience in a battle with some dwarfs in plate his ambition is to pick up a full set (he hasn't quite worked out how he'll be able to move in it given how scrawny he is). He adopted the dwarf's colours for his shield as he's sure the dwarf was so hard to kill because of the dazzle effect of his uniform on his opponents. He doesn't hold with this poncy arrar stuff - or could it be he's too stupid to work a crossbow?

Doubt if I'm going to finish the last few miniatures this weekend, so I've added a couple of banners to a couple of figures which had broken or missing weapons to add a bit of colour .

Enjoy Paul / Golgfag1

like golfag, i've realised i'm not going to get anything else completed before the end of the month, so here's the progress i've made so far on the marauder miniatures mb02 orc regiment.

Lots of great things here, especially the Half Orcs of Paul, with the banners looking really great also! Just painted this Scotia Grendel Orc, with a shield by Ketil Trout, who joins a few more Orcs with added colours from a few days ago also with shields from the same wicked source.

Well scraping in with a few hours to spare I finished the Rogue Idol. Not the greatest of photos, since it's a rock in front of some rock, but better pics will have to wait for an orc thread one day! Might add a few tufts to it and still pondering adding a base.

The more I see Paul's half orcs the more fond I am getting of them, in particular the shield/banner designs - it just works so well. Some of those models are wonderful, the expressions on the faces and the pinker flesh tones have been done so nicely.

Very curious to see the terrain featured in the background of Pygmy Witch Doctor's post (great model too!), that statue looks like a great piece. Also excellent shields in great colours.

Thanks EricF, that is a fine looking idol ! always intimidating to see one of these on the battlefield. i can imagine that perhaps some tufts may be good. The idol is "The Dead God" by Kev Adams for the Tenoch range/ from the Little Soldier Company. https://thelittlesoldiercompany.co.uk/p ... e-dead-god . I will post some more photos of it on my Slann thread soon. Good luck with the basing of the Stone Idol, hope to see an Orc thread some time !

Just adding my orks to the Orktober pile!
They were all posted on the Middlehammer Facebook page at time of painting...
I'm super pleased with them!
They're are a harbinger of my Old World Army Challenge submission for next year, heavily inspired by savage_orc_guy 's phenomenal orks on Instagram.

They're totally amazing epicsatsuma!

Lovely to see so many old models on previous posts.

Here's my effort, it was painted in Orctober but this morning was the earliest I could get a decent picture of it.

Glad I managed to finish it (well, finished as in not varnished and the base needs tarting up in places!).

Very nice! This was the mid period of Kev Adams for me, where the miniature still had a charm of their own, but were starting to loose their 'threat' as orcs and goblins - and started to become a little but too comic for my liking. Still this is a very nice paint job, and would still blend in well with the earlier miniatures. Lovely

Heh, I'm actually painting that same figure right now, fun coincidence. Our approaches are completely different - but I really like your result. That deep yet vibrant red is gorgeous, and the combination of red and green is always great.

I agree on all points ;)

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Now I need to pick something for November and keep the momentum up!

I'm planning on using this as an orc war chief for advanced HQ, hence the flagstone base.

Quite agree, definitely early middlehammer, '92, so perfect for AHQ.
