Orctober has arrived!

So, I'll kick things off this year with my first efforts for Orctober - The horrible looking Stone Troll from the Skull Pass boxed set - NOW WITH A PROPER NOSE!

You just made it obvious to me, that original nose is way too small, I'll "borrow" the idea

As it's that time of year again, I've set everything currently on my painting station to duab a little paint over these old figures - Mudak's Half-orc mercenarys, should have them finished by the end of the month.

What colour are you going to do the animal skin cloaks? I had some of these half IRC’s years ago and I found that the cloaks were the one thing that I didn’t want to be ‘uniform’ so went with lots of variants

A variety of browns and greys of various manufacture - Citadel Balor brown, Averland sunset and there may have been a little Tausept ochre, Model colour leather brown; army painter wolf grey and fur brown and finally miniature paints chestnut brown. These are all base coats which will receive a high-lighting colour in due course.

I'm going to paint this 2nd edition Blood Bowl orc for Orctober. Fouling with a chainsaw is a superior tactic so I'm looking forward to getting this guy done.

As there's another few weeks until the end of the month and I'm trying hard not to start the wood elves in ernest, here's the next group of half-orcs to be menced by by efforts. . Am in two mind as to stripping the few which have already been grace by someone else's hand.

Morning all, or whatever time of the day it is where you are.

I've never committed to a painting challenge before but I've been struggling to get anything done recently (1 year old baby!) other than a few bits for EA.

So, though I've never painted a 28mm Orc before I'm going to get this champion from '92 done this month. Not exactly Oldhammer, more bulging muscle herohammer I'd say, but it's what I've got!

You could strip those orcs and do your own thing. When I have half-painted models that I did myself, I like to finish them off and improve on what I've started, so that's another option. I like the bright yellow skins they've got. Either way they're great miniatures, can't wait to see how they turn out!

Here's my contribution:

The crew is from Citadel, different periods. I don't remember from which manufacturer the stone thrower comes... (I own it for at least 20 years).

Finally for once I have something painted in Orctober, this model (Count Igork von Sharpfang from Titan Forge) has been sitting on the todo pile for years. I think with a little more time I could have got the highlights better, but painting time has been very limited recently. Still it's done and fits the theme nicely as we draw towards Halloween.

The backdrop is part of the Gothic Cathedral from Mini Monsters (Zealot sell them in the UK) and a small painting that was to hand to prop behind the windows which seemed to line up perfectly!

I love the two Bad Moon 40k orcs with plasma weapons, both brilliant models and bold paint jobs really make them pop.

If time favours me I might be able to add in an Rogue Idol before the month is out. Not saying much given it's basically a painted rock, but...!
