Orctober 2025

In all the Orctober excitement I missed this. It's the world's most awesome but utterly ineffective warband - the world needs a game system where you can field this lot as is. Kudos for painting so much. I do love the spider rider, the colours on the spider are fantastic.
Thanks! Really not that hard to paint, the zenithal and contast paint did alot of lifting, then just a case of highlighting the skin.
Would be fun to play in Mordheim, but they would probably spend the whole game fighting each other!

So this might be stretching the Orc point a little far - maybe the best way to describe them is Orc-adjacent. A couple of Giaks from the old Lone Wolf Giak attack set. In my head these are basically goblins by another name, or they were when i played the books. The thing I like most about them is that they have what they are on the bases - it makes me oddly happy and is super useful in case you were about to confuse them with elves or unicorns! less good if you're trying to shamelessly shoehorn them in to Orctober.
I have the full set set (apart from the weapons that very young me lost somewhere in the midst of time) but sadly a few have succumbed/are in the process of succumbing to lead rot so if anyone has any spares I'm willing to trade most things for them, even the precious stuff like Slann - which the more I think on it should be a unit of currency.

Also I should have gone red rather than blue with the complement colours but I can repaint them when I've done all my other figures...

Yup, definitely goblinoids!! ;)

Very nice, I was thinking the same as Ti Pouchon that you've captured a very Gary Chalk feel to them with the colours and clean finish. Love the name plates, not sure why, but they are awesome!

Thanks all. And there is something oddly satisfying about the named bases. I just wish they had cast all the old figures with the names from their adverts in white dwarf!

My offering is Nick Lund's Ushtug the Gut from Mighty Ugezods Death commandos also know as Orc "Pot Belly". He was of course broken having lost his sword blade years ago. So he has a plastic stone axe as a substitute. I forgot how much i like Nick Lunds orcs and ogres so more broken Death commandos may be making an appearance. Comment and critcism etc.

I rather like that Lund sculpt, giving more troll/orc vibes. Nice offering, I like the furs on the back and the solid red of the shield contrasts nicely.

I finally made it back to my brushes for a little bit tonight and have just about done the skin on one of my two bouncing fellas, so I might just manage to get them done in time ... going to cut it a bit fine I think.

Not quite sure what I'm going to do with "Mr giant eye" on the left there, I suspect even at that size my eyeball skills will fall far short of a similar eyeball problem I recently watched. still I might worry about that when I get to it and I've still got his skin to do and I need to re-highlight all the black. Tried the Contrast Paint again for that and whilst it kinda works I find it just rubs off so easily that I really need to go back over and manually highlight it instead.

Obviously going for Low Down Rats here, but for speed I didn't do half/half on their clothes opting instead for top/bottom for the chap on the left and front/back for the chap on the right. Also thought maybe doing the armour metal might add another colour, although I should probably attempt their team logo I guess...

Thinking maybe nice simple green grass bases for these two, unless anyone has some other nice suggestions that tickle my fancy. Also a return to some brushes means I can update the music thread which needs a gentle kick!

Gobbo's being that orangised to have a team uniform? I know Bloodbowl is kind an alternative universe version of WFB but.. I think your version makes more sense ^_^

Purple is a common colour to go with green. VERY common.. more so in comic books.. Hulk more had blue trousers at times (and of course, was not only originally grey but grey for some time after that.. most notable when he was Mr. Fixit). but for Green and purple, top of my head, The Joker (Batman, Purple suit with Green Hair), The Riddler (also batman, Green Suit with Purple mask and deco hightlights), The Impossible Man (Fantastic Four, Green Skin with Purple outfit), The Skrull (also Fantastic Four, Green Skin with Purple outfits), All 6 Construticons (Transformers.. Scrapper, Hook, Bonecrusher, Long Haul, Mixmaster, Scavenger and their combide form of Devastator. Mostly green with Purple secondary colour). I could go on ^_^ But it's VERY common

I keep waiting for the extreme hot weather to end so I can use a spray can and paint a greenskin, but it's already Saturday and I've done nothing. Tomorrow temperatures will plummet from 30 to 20ºC, so if I can manage to use the spray BEFORE it starts raining, you'll see the model and I'll get the badge. But as I see it, it should have to wait until next year [SAD FACE].

wha ha ha Spray Enclosure advantages again! Also just upgraded mine.. Added a nice strip light which spurs off some power from the enclosure itself.

Of all the colours I thought you were going to spray it i hadn't considered green. Still 4 days to go, loads of time!
