Orctober 2025

What spraybooth do you use?
What do other people recommend? I only have limited desk space and it is my partners work space when I am not cluttering it up, so would need to be compact and easy to dismantle…
Sorry that a little off topic folks!
It calls itself "HS-E420DC'.. cheap generic ^_^ full extended size 48x42x36. it folds up and has a fairly nice carry handle on top to 42x15x24 in size. does have an external tube you can connect to the extractor fan which just twists off (for better or worse, I don't use it these days but mine I have set up near a widow and it doesn't matter too much about the extraction that way cause its just gonna blow out the window) has some foam thing filters and a turn table, all of which are stored inside, and like i said, a bit for the power supply to go when not in use. so it's easy to set up and move etc. apart from the hose, it just folds up

Absolutely counts!

As to the digression onto spray booths I think I have the same model as Manic. I did swap the fan out in mine for a quieter one (slightly lower CFM), perfectly good spray booth, does the job! Changed the filter a few times over the years (just chopped up some industrial HVAC filters a client gave me)(. Was fairly cheap when I bought it, but for some reason they all seem to be expensive these days and often marked up to mad prices. I don't think I paid more than £30-40 or something, but now they all seem to be twice that at least. As manic says it's nice because it folds up fairly neatly - which if you don't have a good spot for it 24/7 is useful.

I had to paint this unsavoury pair quickly to get them in the webstore for Orctober. Does that count?!
Absolutely - they look like proper nasty orcs to me (and a lovely evil paint job with those red battle marking). Unless you painted them in Skavtember in which case you are a very bad person, because who would do a thing like that and then post the pictures.

It is possible, that I'm only taking the moral high ground because I have now painted an Orc in the greenskin-est of months. A Warhammer Regiment Orc:

I like these challenges as they normally provide that little bit of motivation to paint something that's been languishing in the queue for a while. Although it's probably indicative or my scattergun approach that I always seem to have a figure primed and based or even half painted ready to go in the drawer under my painting desk.

He's actually got 2/3rds of his friends to hag out with (Another not quite finished yet mini project). I actually started well but hit a wall at the orc and dwarf which aren't the most inspiring figures. The goblin is great and holds up next to the metal minis very well.

And obviously if I do finish the dwarf this month I won't corrupt this thread with an image of the bearded g*t!

I'm painting the same Orc lol. Love the old regiment plastics, I need to hunt down some more, especially the Wood Elves.

The grots got primed and colours are going down!
Yikes, mine have sat on the side since I started the thread! Life has been occupied doing BIOS and BMI firmware upgrades instead, which are certainly not quite as much fun. Right break out the airbrush tomorrow and prime the gobs and varnish a few things!

I always thought the doom diver catapult looked like it's gonna flip back and hit the Gobbo, love the old sculpts. 😊
Totally, not that I thought the re-sculpt for later editions was that great. Have you seen the Foundary/Warmonger take on it? https://www.warmongerminiatures.com/collections/gigantic-trolls. It's in the lead pile for tackling one day!

What's your recipe for flesh? I've been painting dark skinned orks for 30 years and want something that pops a bit more.
Couldn't be simpler: base coat of goblin green, shade with dark green ink, highlight with a mix of goblin green and bright yellow. These days, the ink is a 'contrast paint' but otherwise, everything is just as it was 35 years ago.
Nah pop no style, I strictly roots.

Just posted 4 Gretchin I've done and they count ^_^
