opening old blister packs

Why not cut a little slice in the bottom of the plastic, paint the mini and keep the packaging? That way you always have a nice little house to return the figuring to when your OCD gets out of hand.

You are spot on about the twinge, It's almost as though I regret doing it, though it's nice to be able to finally feel the miniature.

I think in the coming week I shall attempt to open a few of my old sealed blisters, though I shall start with the easy ones from the 90s to break myself in :D

It's such a nostalgia blast. A kind of joy you just don't get when you have to strip a loose model.

I may be one of the few who prefers to buy old blisters but will open them as soon as I get the chance to paint the models within.

Unless you're going to clip, convert, rend or paint straight away leave them in their blisters so when you flit off to another project you'll get top dollar. ;)
 
I do open old blisters (and new), but I let most stuff be inside untill I am 100% the stuff will get paint on them.

There is more reasons for this, since I don't buy things I don't intend to paint eventually. But over the years I have ended up opening lot of boxes/blisters of things that never got any paint and was sold in the end, this mostly apply to new miniatures though.

So why don't I rip open the old stuff? To be honest I am not really sure, since I can hold the blister or packageing and really want to open it and see the miniature inside, but I just can't do it anymore. Actually I feel less hard about old Citadel stuff, since even the rare old stuff is not really so rare. But when I have old lead from really strange and dead companies I sometime wonder if there is any other unopened packages out there and it might just be a real loss forever.

I am deffinately in the hobby to paint and game, I just think I am getting stranger as I get older.

With three already unboxed in my collection, it always seemed like overkill to open the 4th. Having read your blog, it clearly couldn't have gone to a better home.

OH MA GAWD! you have savaged that old school blister, how could you treat it in such a harsh and cavalier manner?!! :lol:

To those of you who like to collect sealed blisters and enjoy basking in the sealed splendor they offer then please gaze upon this blister of dark elves cold one cavalry and remember that for every blister treated harshly im doing all i can to rescue others from such a fate ;)

I had a blister of Slann Cold One Riders that looked like that last week... :shock:

Now, they have joined their froggy brothers, and my Slann cavalry unit numbers 10. :D
 
A bit of thread necromancy can´t be wrong. Even if its not a blister pack. After trading the empty box, I opened this beauty yesterday:




Really a very nice Boxdesign, if I wasn´t running out of space I´d keep it. (I made a scan front/back so I at least have the pictures).
Uncommon for me, no bathing, no scrubing, clean and new miniatures ready for preparation:




Gives a nice feeling with a taste of rememberance... I like
But now I feel bound to painting it , fair deal :D
 
well, I like painted miniatures, more than closed in blister, but I can understand about the sensation you feel: it's like a piece of history that will not come back.
As for the background images, if they are not available anywhere else, if you have more than one of the same type you can try to scan them and assemble.
A good photo also helps mempries to come back when you want :)
